6:40 I think the focus should be on vpd instead of temp or humidity alone. It’s an index after all. Even if you’re not at 60, you can still achieve the same vpd by going higher humidity if it’s hotter or a lower humidity if you are in a colder area.

I just wanted to thank you for inspiring and motivating me to get into growing medicine for myself and my family. I always looked at growing and everything I saw was bottled nutrients, 5ml of this, 15ml of that, and it was intimidating not gonna lie. Your videos and living soil seem a lot more straight forward to me. And I've always been into doing things naturally, so the build a soil way just made sense the first video I saw. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us and pushing us to just go for it homie!

You're 100% right about the auto flower triggers. Maybe some sort of enzyme/hormone in the roots then sends signal to become more generative almost instantly? Always had better luck with autos growing in more volume of media.
@thekushman6227

The autos triggering early was definitely from the cups and root restrictions. It's like once the roots find the container bottom they jump over to flower. I made that mistake as well! And everyone came at me like it was common knowledge 😭 lol

They are clear but when in the tray it is covered with no light to it. Probably a waste of money but it made me feel better being able to look and we will get good use out of it with the food garden.

When I do my autos, I start them in plugs under a dome and at the first root poking out I drop it into the life cycle pot. I can keep conditions ideal, it doesn't really notice the transplant because the root has just barely made it out of the plug, and I can make sure it's a viable seed instead of wasting a potful of dirt for a failed sprout. It's been getting really good results for me so far. I'm not an expert by any means but it works for me.

I decided to try dry amendments in coco. I know it's frowned upon but I just love the growth i get from coco. It actually did good but I overfed and hermed all 4 of my plants through stress. I'm back using salts now. But I really think it can work if I fed less. I didn't consider watering coco so often actually fed too much. Maybe one day I will order a build a soil premix and do this the right way lol! Great show Jeremy as always!! 🙏🙏🙏

Awesome series as always guys, each series gets better and more informative, don't ever stop! Now for my question- What is your expert opinion on fox-tailing? I get it on most of my buds closest to my light, on almost every grow, which I have put down to light stress, as I'm working in very tight limitations in regards to my groom dimensions. I just wanted to know your opinion on whether you think it is a good/bad sign, and whether the additional growth is simply 'extra' bud growth and just as good to smoke as the rest of the plant? Thanks for your awesome efforts guys, very much appreciated!

Jeremy - easier for the cup-in-cup thing is to just take large scizzors and cut a slit down two opposing sides of the clear cup. It'll drain, the outer cup will hold it together, but at transplant you can open it like a clamshell and remove the thing without turning it upside down and getting soil everywhere.

You have to be very careful if you are going to transplant autos. You can't veg them as long as you normally would an auto in a solo cup before transplant.. Basically you have to transplant right as the 3 node is appearing. So that way the roots haven't had time to fill the cup and the tap root should just be starting to hit bottom... But you are correct mostly in the fact that too much root zone stress will cause a auto to flower earlier then if started in a final pot.
@soulseeker42388
@soulseeker42388 Жыл бұрын
@@horstseehofer7130 even in dwc when the root zone becomes too stressed you will start flower early. Ie like a kraky method or even having your roots fill the resivor so much that the roots start finding the air source ( pump airstone filter...ect) but ultimately done right yes you could possibly wind up with a bigger plant on average because it doesn't have to use the energy to push through soil
@scottgreen3807
@scottgreen3807 Жыл бұрын
Also I’ve heard that what you call down time for a soil to be sitting there is called cooking it. Basically it gives the microbes a chance to create more available nutrients and can greatly enrich the soil for the next grow to come. This is good unless you go to nutrient lockout. I test my run off water for ppm count hydroponic style with soil plants so I know what the plants really experience with super good response all the way around. Control the soil feed to hydroponic schedules for THE best smoke.

Does organic soil have to be run at a specific ec for different stages of plant growth as is the case with synthetics and coco? I haven't grown any autos myself. I do help new growers and they do. It's very popular for new growers to jump on whatever hype. Autos have been hyped for a little while now. It seems like it dosent take much to get them triggered. Anything out of the ordinary seems to do it. Nutrients included. They want the same enviroment and situation the whole time. Not very forgiving. This is why I don't mess with them. I will say the best I've seen has come from well controlled hydro setups. It's so easy to uptake nutes that if you hit the sweet spot they get huge. Hydro just blows them up. Soil seems to really slow them down if it's not dialed in specifically to what they like. From my experience as a soil grower I just grow photos. If I want a small plant I can stilll have it.

Honestly with the number of plants that I cycle per year it is much easier for me to use three or five gallon pots containing 18 to 24 inch plants each yielding 3 oz approximately. I bounce between square and round pots and use a simple Coco Pearl based organic medium. I am able to do a synganic grow style giving me organic quality with mineral yields. Truly it is 90 plus percent organic inputs. But in order to not be wasteful that soil gets collected and used outside for all of my outdoor growing purposes after being used in an indoor cycle. It gives me a great base to start with as I expand my planting beds Outdoors and then I can always add extra compost, worm castings, and other mediums to my liking. I grew up with the older generation that went through the depression so believe me I understand waste not want not. And I believe that most people who truly enjoy growing medicinals also end up expanding from indoors to outdoors and from medicinals to vegetables and other flowers. Might as well get as much mileage as we can from our products that we purchase right?

I've got the red 1949 Chapin and i NEVER cleaned it. Best i essentially did was spray until was empty & hissing.... lol. As brother J. aptly noted, its useful life was about 1yr. & 3 mo.😉Much respect for also showing love for your customers by pointing out how to maintain our expensive investments in our grow equipment.

Autos tend to go in to flower if then are root bound. I think this is cos the come from permafrost land race if they have the room they can get 7ft tall

Stoked my local shop recently got in a ton of build a soil products. Gonna do a run of autos soon in 3.0. When should I start feeding? I'm using craft blend, also copped Montana grow silica, build a soil worm castings and cowoco, build a bloom, aloe and coconut. Haven't got it yet,but will be getting pure protein. I do mostly photos, but next run is gonna be autos.

FAQ…I recently moved & now I have well water which has a lot of iron & manganese in it…can I use RO water for my living soil & autopot set up or would I need to add something back to the RO water like a cal/mag? Or add a gallon of the well water to say 5 gallons RO water mixed? ✌️
