Builder learns the truth about home fire sprinklers

NFPA 13D home sprinkler systems are straightforward to add during construction since the sprinklers and domestic fittings share the same plumbing. They are intended to give more evacuation time, not save the structure (although obviously they would help).

It's not design to smother a fire it's designed to help get the people out of building safe not to protect property but in some cases the sprinkler system does suppress the fire or completely puts it out

I looked up some statistics. In my state I'm 3 times more likely to be the victim of homicide than to die in a fire. The primary benefit of these systems is to raise the floor cost of housing to create more homeless and to put more money into plumber's pockets.

@Degasi That is a very flawed analogy. Safety devices have a cost and a risk profile for what they are protecting against. My chance of being in a car accident is significantly higher than that of either a fire or homicide. And the cost of a seat belt is relatively low. Hence, seat belts as safety devices make tons of sense. The same is not true of fire sprinklers. By requiring them you are raising the floor cost of houses for EVERYONE. This makes housing less affordable for everyone while we're in the middle of an affordability crisis. Sprinklers are a significant additional cost in building a new home, adding about 40% to the plumbing system cost in my area. As a society, this money would be better spent elsewhere.

Lol yeah, having a fire suppression system in a house is what makes housing unaffordable. Yup, that one single thing. God forbid a fire destroy a house, and then spread to the surrounding houses destroying the homes in a neighborhood and in turn making those people..... HOMELESS 😱 And maybe you should move to a different state.
