Hello and welcome back to the bench!
This is part 2 of a DIY recreation of the ZO: Fuzz, a modified John Hornby Skewes Zonk II Fuzz built by Reeves Electro in the UK.
In this video we'll start the point to point build and have a listen to the final product.
Enjoy!

Great building. Souds great for a simple pedal. I really like fuzzes.....this type of assembly is very intersting. Congrats for the contents.

Great job on this project man. I have never seen anyone do a point to point build before. Cheers.

Badass.. I'd love to be able to replicate a pedal at home. Super cool.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with this style of build. They look cool but if you've ever had to repair one, you'll be cursing the maker's name.

Аналогічно, обожнюю навісний монтаж, але точно не данного типа зібрання 🙂 Ремонтопридатність такого виду монтажа дууже низька. Тому люблю застосування туретборда 👍🙂

And when are you ever going to have to repair the pedal maybe change a pot change a switch, you remove the whole thing from the enclosure, then replace the faulty part/s. Easy peasy. And I am way more concerned about how a circuit sounds compared to how it looks myself. Butt people are worried about fashion I guess.

@@christianjimbomb8204 I guess so as long as the jacks can be removed from the sides of the enclosure.

Insulated conductors are for the smart kids out there. This kind of build would need to be repaired weekly if I played it.

This is added to my Wow-folder, awesome work!! Btw. no lock washer on second jack?

Haha one lock washer is silver, one is black. Was wondering if anyone would catch that 😉

Fine work and a fairly small list of lessons which is a credit to your patient methodical approach! Do you remember the brand / part number for the green resistor down by the footswitch? Looks like a Dale military spec but I don't think they come in green, thanks!
@graybenchelec
@graybenchelec 7 ай бұрын
It's the Dale/Vishay RLR series, which I believe is now the ERL series.

Was that just cloth wire for the Input/Output wires or was that shielded?
@graybenchelec
@graybenchelec 8 ай бұрын
It's cloth coated PVC wire, unshielded.

the paint will also help against noise from ground loops through the case and pots

what are the specs for the led resistor
@graybenchelec
@graybenchelec 20 күн бұрын
good values for LED resistors off 9V are anywhere 1k to 10k. 4.7k is a common value for high brightness LEDs.

Usually it's just mojo sillyness, but in this case it's useful. The high voltage components tend to have heavier gauge leads, which make the "dead bug" styling assembly more robust.

Wunderfull build. But the sound is very farty/buzzy/spitty in most positions.

200-400 dollars for a 30 dollar pedal? People should be ashamed. That’s ridiculous. I’ll build my own.

You didn’t put you time, effort, or money into developing anything. You don’t just get to buy $30 worth of random parts and WALLA! a great pedal! People deserve to be paid for their intellectual property.

Very cool that Markus supported these videos and gave you a shout-out on Instagram too. What gauge is the bus wire you used? I use 0.5mm silver plated copper wire for the footswitch jumpers, usually.
