The insects are attracted by the fermenting sap of the tree... It has some wounds a sap flows out and ferments, this will attract, wasps, butterflies, moths and beetles... The reason the tree has wounds is either you pruned it, some animal damaged it or there are beetle larvae in the trunk...

The wasps also use the oak to lay their eggs in. The oak tree reacts to the wasps inject a hormone into the tree that causes the tree to grow around the eggs.

BamaBass, please don’t rush through the nite game footage and description.for me it is one of the highlights of this series! Being able to see all the wildlife you have been able to attract to your property is magical! I have loved seeing it evolve! Also, can we see more of the backyard pond??? I know, I’m being a pain in the neck, lol 😝 , but I’m so emotionally involved…. Seriously, great job 👏. Thank you. Frances

Please do some research on Purple Martins, you will find it very satisfying. Martins come to NC about the first of March and leave between July and August. Purple Martins numbers are going down due to habitat lose. Martins will only stay around if they have nesting gourds to raise their young. We have about 168 nest sights and about 500 - 600 birds go back to South America. Consider putting a dozen gourds up for next year so you can watch all they do. The best way to help save these birds is to erect nest sights, please DO.

"Fugitive" would be a cool and somewhat fitting name for that little Bluegill, considering the way he immediately ran and hid when you dropped him in the tank (along with how similar it is to some of the other names you've already chosen for those awesome pets/animals).

Hello, The plant all the way top the left on the new 75 gallon is a java fern. These plants can't stay under the gravel (their rhizome will rot in most cases). so if it starts looking worse for wear you can glue/ tie it to a small rock or the driftwood!
@DylanRenke

The plant on the left side of the aquarium is a Java Fern, it doesn't particularly like to be planted into the substrate. Make sure that the rhizome isn't buried or it will begin to rot.

Love the series! I have seen them all. Thanks for letting us watch. The wasps on your oak tree are building a nest someplace...probably on your cabin. They eat wood, usually rotten wood though, and use the pulp to build their nests. That's what's happening for sure. Id find it quick as they can build a nest so big they are hard to get rid of if left unchecked. Happened to me at my camp. I noticed them eating the rotten wood on a rail to our deck. Didn't hunt for the nest. 2 months later, I found it alright. Took 3 different professionals to come out and get rid of them. Terrible experience. Good luck!

I'm sure others will have mentioned, but one of the plants in the new tank looks like a Java fern - they grow attached to wood and rocks like your moss, and it'll die if buried in the gravel. Best thing to do is tie it onto one of those bits of wood with a little bit of fishing line or something, and it'll thrive.

For the bluegill name him sunny, and the reason why the bugs love the oak tree is because it has unlimited food in summer, moths or beetles lay eggs in crevices of the bark Insects are everywhere some feed on decaying material or other insects, and others prefer trees such as your oak trees.

Hey Bamabass, the plant on the far left of your tank is Java fern. This is an epiphyte plant, it grows on the surface of rocks/wood. The leafs are connected to a rhyzome, if this is burried it rots away and the plant dies, you need to pull it out of the gravel and tie/glue it to a rock.
