id rather see true $500 budget cars battle it out than 15k "$500 budget" builds

Yes but people would die. You spend most that 15k on safety stuff. They’ve been doing this for like 15 years and haven’t been sued into non existence yet. The organization cares more about themes and costumes than actual winning and encourages the most terrible vehicles. Still exceptionally entertaining stuff even if they are more expensive

@SophiaAphrodite the $500 is just for visuals and engine. But then safety things like breaks, roll cage, cooling system and seats have a higher budget.

95% of that 15k budget is going into safety equipment like a roll cage, seats, harnesses, fire suppression, properly maintained wheel bearings and ball joints, and fresh tires and brakes. With a $500 budget, you can’t get most of those things, and without those things, you will probably get seriously injured or die.

When he says 15,000 he means all combined the 500 dollars don’t count towards any safety equipment that’s necessary however any thing that’s just performance is counted towards the budget. You can also sell stuff on the car like interior and that counts as money you made and can be used as your real budget. So for example you could buy a Miata for 3k sell the interior separate like a part out and make 1.5k sell the cats, factory intake and then have a 500-1000.

The 9000 engine is good top model makes about 220-230 stock

I have a 1993 Saab 9000. 2.3L full pressure turbo. 5spd. With a ecu tune. She rippppps when that turbo gets to work. 10-15 pounds of boost I believe the ecu will hit depending on what is senses.

@@cwhitmer762 Safety stuff is exempt from the $500. Brakes, cage , seat, fire suppressant system, belts etc have to purchased but aren’t part of the $500. After all is said and done you’ve spent 10 grand on a $500 car. Still it’s the cheapest way to go door to door circuit racing.

500$ corvette and three cars mashed together for 500, neither sound right, and if they sold parts off of the three cars to make it possible you could just make a parting out bussines and go to town on your budget

Everybody here is mad because its not 500$ but closer to 15000$. What i think they dont understand is that its still INSANELY LOW compared to practically any other motorsport. Even Formula Vee which is regarded as a cheaper way to get into motorsport can cost upwards of 20000$, and thats being not competitive. To be competitive youre looking more at 30000$-40000$ even up to 60000$. Lemons IS a cheap way to race cars. Especially for it being an endurance race.

That is not a 1500 dollar car lol. I looked into thid and went to two lemons races and seperate from safety equipment and cooling boxes for the drover these cars are bo way any where near 500 bucks some cars had brand new motors and transmissions with performance parts and the builds avarged around 10k or more for the front runners and faster cars how is it a 500 follar car with turbos and making tons lf power when its supposed to be knocm the windows put make the suspension and car safe do a tune up and go race it shluldbt be allowed to modify them with turbos anf seapping bodies and chassis and certain cars like corvetes porsche bmw and Mercedes should not be allowed cause they are performance cars in certain model made for track days and ppl with tons of moneg will buy a 20l dollar plis used sports car and vlaim its a 500 dollar car

there’s a penalty for over budget for evey $10, you get a penalty lap, and you end up racing into a negative canvas
