For the record, it is proven, EVERY camshaft is a turbo cam. Turbos are a multiplier of power. Whatever your torque/power curve looks like before adding a turbo, it'll look almost exactly the same after adding a turbo only it will make more power.

The rods were orientated correctly, the stock crank has a rolled fillet and not a radius on the journals so it doesn’t matter which way the rods face. Your boy Ben is thinking of old school engines. Also, pins bind in the stock rods and pistons all the time. Its usually carbon build up. Spray WD40 in there and then oil it and it will move much better.

BTW you might want to make sure it's a 5.3 before you order parts. The engine has flat tops like a 4.8l. means it has a short stroke crank and long rod.

So that's why Ben was treating an ls rod like a sbc rod. Its a ls it dosent matter what direction the rod goes! Its an ls. I'm not saying they dont know ls they just don't know shit about stock ls stuff

Hello, I was just wondering if 900HP-1000HP is possible with a 5.3L LS displacement using twin GT30 size or GT35 size (if need be) Turbochargers. A built 700R4. But not too many other overly expensive components? I was thinking of using a summit racing big nasty, big truck torqinator, or a stage stage 1 cam from someone. Planning on putting this engine in a street/strip car with occasional daily driving. Hoping to keep the rpms at no more than 6500rpm, or at 6000rpm if it all possible. Or is this asking too much from a basic 5.3L LS?

To be cheap just get gen 4 rods and pistons. Holdener got to 1558hp at crankshaft on gen 4 SBE on engine dunno. Tune it better than the black sheep and it will last

I have the pro ls forged pistons, h beams and forged crank in my 6.0 370 build. Weisco makes the Summit Pro Ls pistons.

Clear as day it has flat top pistons which I would assume it’s a 4.8 unless they just put flat tops on 5.3 rods and out them in incorrectly

Why don't you pull everything apart and clean it up before trashing it? It might all still be good. I'd get a set of stones to hone the cylinders, dingleballs are good for deglazing but won't hone the cylinders straight. Go Phil!

I got summit pistons in a half filled ls2 with gen4 4.8 crank and rods and I have zero complaints and been 5.60's in a 3300 pound 99 z28

Summit LS pro pistons and rod set are 1200.00 They are rebranded K1 rods and Crankshaft and Wiesco pistons. But thanks for good quality information!! You guys work for CNN or FOX NEWS?

Flat tops usually means 4.8.. not always.. press those pistons off, turn them around on the rods, file the rings and send it...LOL

But why would you attempt to fire up a engine that you can visually tell it's put together wrong? I mean I could see doing something like that if this was a Mythbusters KZfaq channel or something like that. These guys are running very serious LS engines! It's kind of like when you know you know! Or maybe it's just a common-sense factor. I mean what I take from it, they are putting together a LS "type' engine the cheapest way possible and make the most power they can to help out the viewers like myself that are on a true budget and love to go fast! I know how to do everything the wrong way, there are several videos like that on KZfaq... I could name off a few very quickly if you want to see stuff like that happen lol. But if you want to see things done the right way, stick around and watch what these guys are capable of doing! It's actually very impressive.

Wrist pins shouldn't be like . Wasn't put together right . If you take those wrist pins apart they scratch the bore .I got the 823 heads you need and a good 5.3 short block bottom end. I'm in jersey. I can build a motor with my eyes closed like ben
