You could potentially get one of those waterproof outdoor chair cushions that is made to tie to a chair, and then tie it to one of the ledges. I have one that is foam that I picked up at Walmart for like $7. It’s nice and dense, so you wouldn’t have to worry about it sliding around, but it would still offer comfort and support.

Yesss! I made my apartment patio an enclosed Carol (made a pvc frame and got cat netting attached to it omg) if you wanna avoid getting bugs inside, through the open window, since it has to be open for them, you can put the window screen back in and cut a rectangle hole in it and they sell cat flaps for screen doors that you could use on there! I did that for my screen door so bugs don’t come thru the sliding door

My mom and I have patio furniture with special cushions made to be outside in all kinds of weather…. Maybe look into cushions for outdoor furniture for the catio?

Baylee!!!! I think I just solved your problem. I saw a video of someone using a paint roller to paint the chicken wire black. Just don’t goop it or it’ll sling everywhere. But, it should be possible to keep your bricks clean!!! ❤❤❤

There are some reusable lint rollers you can get. I have one and I feel like it works better in little fuzz pieces than lint rollers with the papers. Plus you can just rinse them off to clean them. Also someone mentioned it in another comment but an outdoor pillow or cushion might work for the catio!

You could consider using sponges to paint on the wire thing. If you just dab the sponge against it the paint may not splatter everywhere, still I would just have some paper taped to the wood behind it (not touching the wire) just to be sure the cats won't be rubbing against it while it is still not fully dry. Make a test on a small area to test and see if it is a good idea.

It might be good to put a square of cloth over the opening to the catio just for bugs and temperature. The cats will figure it out. :)

Part of the reason we moved into the house we did is because we had a screened in patio area that we can let the cats out on. It’s such a nice way to let them be outside!

You can get weather proofing clear paint from Home Depot or a hardware store that would definitely help the wood last longer. Also could you fashion some type of cover in the winter to keep snow and ice off the wood? Not sure if you are in an HOA that might have rules against what you could have.

Came back to say maybe thick clear plastic for winter time when the catio wouldn't be in use to protect it.

Yeah, I'll likely try covering it. Tarps are allowed. We do technically have an HOA, but not in the traditional sense. There are no neighbourhood rules. They just charge $60 annually to pay for neighborhood activities & upkeep.

Just an idea but you could take off the wood paneling from on the inside that is affixed to the house and shore up the size of the catio so that they don't get out also it would allow you to paint some sort of mural for them out there for something colorful and pretty to look at I don't know what do you think?

I don't mind the background noises. I find them nuve. Makes you both human... 😂 Beautiful catio. Perhaps on a gew years when it's not good anymore, just close the whole terras... put some screens en you have a homemade catio witch you can sit down and have a drink with the kitties...❤

Totally unsolicited internet advice, but if you give your cats a monthly flea medicine, see if it covers heartworm disease as well. I foster cats and work with a rescue that just had a cat go through treatment for heartworms, and we believe she was infected by mosquitos when out on her foster mom's catio. We are in the south US and there's a shit ton of mosquitos here, so that might not be too relevant to CA, but just in case that's something y'all could see as well!

I know you just built the catio and the day this is out is already days long past but it's going to suck hearing this. You should really remove it from the house, remove the screws, and get some outdoor caulk to put in the holes with the screws. Moisture could seep into the screw holes and may cause things like mold, rot, or the stucco to peel off. That or just caulk around the edges of the wood. Best to be safe the sorry, you know?

i saw somewhere if you paint chicken wire black it's nicer to look through, but awesome project, I have large dogs (lurchers) so don't really need anything like this.
