I’m a hobby woodworker which is how I found your channel. I do retaining walls and patios for a living so I would like to think I know what I’m doing. Other than a couple minor inefficiencies on time you did a phenomenal job and basically everything correct. Amount of money you saved is substantial by doing it yourself. Just goes to show you that being fearless and doing your homework always pays off. Strong ass work man

I can't help but to feel that ot would have been MUCH faster/easier to pour a concrete footing and level that instead of burying a full course of blocks after so much leveling work.......I'd probably just then pour the whole wall in concrete and stamp it, but thats a different product entirely. But with the road base/gravel/leveling etc. and the blocks arent cheap, a concrete footer seems to make most sense.

Incredible video. Never seen anything like it. One man's vision from start to finish is extraordinary. This is unconventional and very sophisticated. Most people would of just put in a deck but this man is a visionary beyond the scope of mediocrity. You dream it, you build mountains with it. adding soil in 6" lifts and actually compacting it. Crafted Workshop, as a geotechnical engineer in training and a former inspector, you don't how happy it makes me to see someone actually do this. I have failed more job sites than I can really remember for not doing this one thing.

I used Cornerstone 100 when I built a retaining wall in February 2020 to level the area where I'm building my detached garage. It's great block and really easy to work with.

Very professional project. I've never seen anything like it. Its unconventional and unique - why be normal !! Its captivating to watch and to absorb talent apart from our own abilities. What is amazing is the focus and determination of such a grand project; that what they've envisioned is the exact end results. It never dawned on me that you could bury cinder blocks below the surface as a footer. Nor did I see any mortar between blocks or concrete mixed and poured. Its something new to me yet stretches my intellect on new ways of thinking. Since concrete is not used, the blocks can easily be dug-up and repositioned. The geometry and mathematical calculations was right-on before each leg. Just a well-planned, well-thought out, and well executed project from true artisans and craftsmen. .

I done my retainer wall by myself with those 75lbs block sure is a work out especially I have wheel them in 40 feet. Cutting the corner caps sure is tricky I think I have to redo few of them. Those lights are nice, wish your video was done four years ago, I sure can learn from that. Thanks!

I’m jealous of two parts here. Having someone with the backhoe to assist with digging, and second the dirt appears to not be what I had on my property which is clay. Thick - heavy - full of rocks and trees clay. Why couldn’t you have started this project last year lol. Anyhoozles, looks awesome! Great job

Thanks for the video! We're going to be building a house this summer and the area we're building on has a slight grade difference so a flat slab patio wouldn't work. This idea is a good idea for our problem. I wouldn't want the ground to be level all the way to the house. Has to have a slope away from the house. Deck posts wouldn't be as permanent as the block wall, so I decided against the posts. We'll have a porch on the front and a patio on the rear. This idea would work out real good for our property. Once again, thanks for the video! Wish you well with the rest of your project!

Great video series dude. I have a question if I may, which is, why not just build a bigger deck instead of the patio? Wouldn't it have been cheaper to do and taken a lot less time and effort and eliminated the need for machine rental? Do you have any reason other than asthetics? I mean, if you prefer the look of the patio that is all the reason you need, but I just wondered if there is another reason I am missing? Cheers.

The homeowner's association limited the size of the building, and the deck counts towards that limit if I recall correctly

I could have had a concrete footing poured around the perimeter but changing levels would have been a lot more annoying, plus the cost of the concrete plus rebar would have been quite a bit.

how much did u pay for a gravel of this size? are these materials also marked up same as lumber is? also can u share the price of these wall blocks? are they expensive? im looking at lowes and the price is around $4-5 with these whole in them
