Building a dry dustless vacuum abrasive blaster, for doing spot repairs.
This is a low-buck hack that allows spot sandblasting, with minimal mess.

That’s a neat idea Tony B …I don’t have a blaster anymore.. but that particular Brush shop Vac- attachment made me think I’ve never found a use for it on any of my shop vacs .. including the Wall Mount -Garage Vac I’ve had for three years now! …Brilliant 😎

I just fashioned one based on your design here. It works great! I'm going to have to use a more powerful vacuum cleaner, but it's a great tool, and like you say in your video, hundreds of dollars cheaper than anything commerical you can buy to do the same thing. Thank you!

@@ChipsAndSparksGarage yeah I can really see the applications in various things. Cleaning alu car parts. Rusty panels. Stripping paint. Removing bleedout from mortar on my outer wall.

I'm curious about what psi and cfm your compressor is providing for this demo. I'm interested in setting up something like this but I'm not clear yet on what size tank and motor I need on a compressor to do this kind of work. Thanks!

Hi, this was at 90 psi. I have a 5HP compressor that delivers 10+ cfm @ 90 psi. Your requirements will depend on the nozzle size of your sandblaster. If you’re using the blaster intermittently, you can stop to let the compressor catch up.👍

thank you for posting. it was exactly what i was looking for . Do you suck the sand from the Dustopper directly ?

Thanks! It pulls sand from the sandblast hopper, not from the vacuum hopper. After the vacuum hopper is full, you transfer the sand into the sandblast hopper again. I hope this helps you out.👍 Tony

Not really, but it makes it easier to reclaim your blast media,

The blast gun is from Harbor Freight as part of a portable kit with a sand hopper. The vacuum head is from Home Depot. I purchased both items in store, but they both have online ordering. Good luck! Tony B
