the best video i have ever seen when it comes to building an also using pallets. i love pallets i built a small cabin from them. the thing about your videos is that you do not fast forward or do some building an then show it. you cant learn much from that kind of video. i hope you build more projects from pallets. keep up the good work. GOD BLESS

I was just thinking to myself "I should build a little cabin from pallets." It's cool to hear that you've done it! I'll have to start collecting some more, which will take a bit of time. Thanks for the nice comment and for watching the video!

Nice way to reuse the debris ! Back many years ago when a wood stove was my only heat source .. I'd line up around 50 pieces in my driveway & go to town with my 20 lb maul !!! Didn't matter how much wood I had stacked that darn stove would make sure you were back at it next week lol ...

I like the build. Thanks for showing it. You should get an old tire. Split the wood while the tire holds it, so you need not chase the pieces.

Nice utilitarian design. I like how you focused on function and didn't sweat the details (like the wavy roof line). A ridge board at the peak of the roof might have been a good idea, though. Adds strength and rigidity to the roof at very little cost in materials and labor.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, ridge board would have been a good call and nicely ties the rafters to each other (didn't have a nice straight and light piece of wood) ... next time! haha ... for this little structure it should be alright. :) Thanks for checking it out

Just built a woodshed last week with wood from a neighbors demolished fence, before they hauled it off to the landfill. Got 3 sections of fence paneling about 4 foot by 4 foot, which became the back and sides. Got 3 pallets of varying sizes, used the 4 ft by 4 ft one for the floor. Also scored pressure treated 2 x 6's and used those to tie the sides together. Used 3 pieces of the 2 bys for roof supports. Just looking for a piece of castoff plywood for the roof, and have leftover shingles in the garage to finish it off. Even had the deck screws left over from a deck build in 2000.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds excellent! With wood prices the way they are that's the only way to build things these days ... castoff lumber reborn! good stuff man

@@metaspencer - When I bought this house 10 years ago, I forgot about the plywood and old trim that I had stored on the garage attic. I am still ticked off at myself for forgetting to have my buddies help me get it down! It was mostly half sheets of 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch that I had found thrown out, and doorway trim from houses built aroung 1900 - 1920. - - - -Wonder if it is still there, and if the current owner would let me have it? Nice design - you were lucky to get all those strong planks from the deck tear-down. I'm hoping my neighbor tears his small barn apart the way he keeps saying he's going to, so I can relieve him of some of the parts, esp roofing like the kind you used. I recently found a local source for all the pallets I could ever use, so thanks for the idea and the inspiration. BTW, I think your videos are well-edited. You show enough of the build to convey the idea and don't overdo the fast motion the way so many videos do. Thanks for sharing your experience and projects!

That's super! I want to do the same roof line for my upcoming woodshed. Love that you re-used old wood (and concrete) and I'm going to do the same for some things. I expect that mine will be somewhere between this and a "gourmet" version, ha-ha, AND will probably take me 5X the time. (I was going to type 'twice as long' but everything I do takes longer than I expect!) Nice job.
@metaspencer

Hey man, nothing wrong with gourmet. Mine is pretty full these days and I'm kicking myself for not building 3 or 4 more at the time. But the design is still one I like with headroom when pulling stuff out of there. :) Good luck with it!

dittoing the sentiment regarding the reuse/repurposing of pallets and other discarded materials. It's like xmas in July every time I see a stack of discarded pallets. I haven't built anything in years, though, the standing gardening beds I built about 5yrs ago have held up extremely well in rough Chicago winters.
