Hey April, what a great job you are doing and pared up with other You Tubers too. I was really impressed watching Matt make the first mill and now with his help you have taken it to another level. You can be proud of your accomplishments. I know we are watching and seeing how well you are doing. Thanks for sharing with everyone.

Matt mentioned this video on his channel. So glad he got to mig weld. He really enjoyed it. Your organization skills impress me. So much was prepared ahead of time. Helped having a professional fabricator onboard. Share your enthusiasm and look forward to part two. I enjoyed watching Matt build his monster mill. You can buy a similar mill but nothing like this. Some of huge logs he mills. I'm impressed by how he does it and the beautiful grain in every slab. Thanks for posting.

AvE did a video a while back concerning stick, MIG, and TIG welding. He is of the opinion that everyone should start with stick and build skills before taking up MIG or TIG. He says they are like cheating and that you can get okay results with little experience, but you will never be a great welder. Matt showed that with his stick experience transitioning to MIG and how easy that was. We have a similar phenomenon in aviation. There are two types of small airplanes--tricycle gear and tail wheel (or, as we call them, tail draggers). Learn to fly in a tail dragger and you can easily transition to a tricycle at any time. Learn on a tricycle and if you do transition to a tail dragger, you will face a fairly steep learning curve. It's encapsulated in this aphorism: when the main gear touches the runway in a tricycle gear airplane, you have essentially completed your landing. When the main gear touches in a tail dragger, your landing has just begun. Any pilot will get that.

I've been watching you for years! Almost from the beginning, 10,000 subscribers i think. Wow... You've come along way! I remember you struggling to work any power tools. Look at you go now. Your dad was in the same industry I am and I'm as he was (probably) looking for a way out... ( I know he's retired now) I just want to say "YOU help inspire me!" Not bad for being a millennial. You go girl! Tell your dad for me, He did an excellent job of raising a great Kid. (Yes, I'm old like him). Don't ever stop doing what you can think of, build, create, and inspire! Thanks for being there almost every week.

I like the fact that Matt who I watched build his in very different weather and condition turn this into a real opportunity for him and his family. I really thought at the time, are you writing every step you take in this down cause someone is going to want it and who knows, maybe he will undertake a milling system like wood mizer and northwood have done. It is still a far cry from the level of Cook sawmills who like goodyear made a great tire, couldn't stop anyone else from making their own version of it. I just subscribed and will watch your success. I do believe that this is making good use of what nature provided for us

Again What An Outstanding Job! And Awesome ShoutOut to Matt on working with you and the crew on this build. Something that you might want to consider that will save you a ton of time and aggravation when tapping that many holes, is an attachment that will fit in almost every Drill Press. It is called a TAPMATIC Self Reversing Tapping Head. You can Pre-Set the depth of the tap for the thickness of your material, and when it reaches that depth it automatically reverses and pulls the tap out, then clicks back into forward to tap the next hole Oh and GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS

Something to consider @12:45 would be a line of holes in the floor for verticle stop-rod insertion. So that when you're lifting things like that with the crane you have both a ground pivot and stopper to prevent anything from sliding away from the lift. The rods can also have wheels on them if you need to rotate anything to verticle.

Very cool - I built a band-saw mill about 20 years ago to build my house. Similar to what you are doing. I live off grid in the mountains of New Mexico. I have access to the forest for materials so it seemed logical for me to build the mill to gather my materials for the build. I still use my mill now off-and-on to mill wood for other small projects (furniture etc.) My mill will cut about a 28 inch diameter log - but what you are building is insane LOL. How big are the trees in your area?? Gods you could go into industrial production of and become a industrial wood manufacturer. But like I say - very cool and having a crew to help is also very cool. I am now a subscriber.
