This video is about building my new greenhouse, which is a Vitavia Jupiter 11500 polycarbonate greenhouse. It is 14 foot 7 inches long and 8 foot 5 inches deep and uses a 6mm twin wall polycarbonate glazing. Its a quality greenhouse that's for sure.
In this greenhouse I'll be setting up an aquaponics system with either trout and/or tilapia. I'll be heating the greenhouse in winter and using greenhouse grow lights to grow plants throughout winter.
You can get this greenhouse from vitavia.co.uk or from a bunch of other online shops.

Very nice. We made our using double layered plastic with blown air in between to create a bubble of insulation. We also us a gas heater during the really cold months to get a jump start on our early tomatoes, peppers and so on. Thanks for posting

That's one big greenhouse. When I got my glass greenhouse (6 foot square), my husband very kindly built it for me. It took one day to build the frame and then another to put in the glass. I would have done it myself, but he offered, so I wasn't going to say "No". I helped by bringing out tea and biscuits on a regular basis. We bolted it to the concrete base, and it's been up now for about 3 years, and is still brilliant. Hope you have fun in your.

I am gearing up to order this greenhouse. But with the toughened glass. Thank you for this build video. It gives me confidence in the product.

Great video which helped save me loads of time. I find the Vitavia instructions near on useless so it was great to see which way round everything was supposed to go and especially how the door was mounted on the rail at the bottom. I'm still trying to find out how the H-Bars are used with toughened glass instead of the clips but it's all a learning experience....

Great video Vince. My greenhouse is sill in the cartons and I have to wait until Autumn to start as the garden is planted out. It's a help to see what possible problems may arise. Thanks for taking the time. One critisism. You could've picked better weather.

Hello. I have just bought this greenhouse, and your vid was very helpful. I tried reading and understanding the instructions, and couldn't figure out a few bits.. I haven't put the roof on yet, and would have probably made the same mistake as you, and not put enough bolts in the spaces for the strengthening bars. Cheers for the help..:)

Nice! Seems the mistakes you did while building, are universal! :D I builded a quite similar one, and met the same issues. I bumped into some snags with the fitting of the two-three last roof windows, before they where on their place. Had to twist the whole green house framework to get them sliding all the way up. It wasn`t too difficult building a green house like this, but it took longer time than expected. Another thing, I dreamed about nuts and bolts for weeks afterwards.. ;) Best wishes, Halvor.

Hello great job on the green house and the instruction video. I also a vitavia green house, but a smaller one (Merkur), but the set up is identical. Just one question; How is the green house attached or connected to the base? thx

Hi, If there is an UV coating (translucent) on the pvc, which side should it face the sun? Is that a rule of thump that the manufacturers label comes always on the outer side? thanks

Hi, I live in Chicago where the temperatures are very cold.. I have always been interested in building a greenhouse. I would like to know how many months I can crow fresh flowers and vegetables in Chicago and more importantly where do I find this very solid greenhouse kit.

Even though our green house is a different brand it's given us a lot of good ideas what to expect while putting it together. How did you secure it to the concrete base?

I built my greenhouse two weeks ago (not a Vitavia). One week later it was wiped out in a big storm we had here. Our new Vitavia Triton is on the way. I'll be doing some extra strengthening around the frame. It's a slightly different construction with slide in 6mm polycabonate panels. How did you fix your base to the concrete in the end ?

Because I bought a big microphone and it just happens to be fantastic for getting rid of background noise... I had quite a few cars and trucks going past while filming and it is super directional so it doesn't pick them up :-)

Planning of buying a Vitavia Zeus, which has glass sides. Wondering about the base brackets; we will have it with 6 anchors, but would it be okay that apart from these 6 points, the rest of the base 'floats' above the ground? Thus, if I pour these 6 anchors in concrete, I can fill up under the base with soil. The base just looks a bit flimsy, so it would be great to hear some first hand experience... .

Deep means depth or length...you mistakenly gave the width as 8' 5" deep instead of 8'5" wide. Also how tall is it inside?

As someone whom as built and dismantled 2 metal framed greenhouses, I would love to know what tool you used, to magically tighten the damn fiddly bolts? That is the time consuming job. Also, did you bolt it to the floor? Our British winds, especially over the last week, are quite strong, and destructive. I had 1 pane of glass, fly 40ft. Happy growing.

Most likely I'll just be heating the water in the fish tanks which will keep the greenhouse at a nice temperature, however if I was heating for extended periods I would get a small 600w-1.5kw gas heater. I will never use paraffin again since I destroyed all the panels on an old greenhouse by sooting the thing out, and heating with electricity is too expensive.

I'll give it that about the background noise elimination, definitely does the job. Just looks like you're holding the worlds largest ice cream cone all the time. How well does it pick you up if you leave it next to the camera pointed at you? Means you can use both hands & possibly demonstrate stuff while doing a bit of commentary.

I got mine delivered on monday afternoon so started it yesterday i thought it was pretty simple up till the roof ! On my own i used the washing and built all 4 sides to it leaving the roof bolts on the top right frame off to slip.the line back out lol you could cut it bit we need it haha! The roof windows were a pussy to figure it out whare they hinged from since instructions didn't show how they connected just to put them together lol its up now looks great i got a 8Lx6w foot but next time should be simple!

I would not stand inside that greenhouse in that weather. It seems sturdy in a sunny weather, a bit of wind and the roof is moving sideways.

Thank you for the inspiration! Whilst I had considered using glass, I'm certainly going to go with polycarbonate moving forward. Specifically, I'm going to opt with solid polycarbonate. I found some info at www.roofingmegastore.co.uk/roofing-categories/pitched-roofing/roofing-sheets/polycarbonate.html, although tiles were out of the question for obvious reasons ;P. Out of interest, would anything higher than 6mm have a negative effect?

Depends on the climate and if you have kids with balls. If it's a colder climate and/or you have flying objects, definitely poly. Otherwise glass. Also if you're in a high-wind area I'd go with glass.
