Welcome to the Cape Falcon Kayak FREE Greenland Paddle Building Series. In these videos I share the super efficient system I developed to build paddles with my kayak building students.
Contribute to this project by sharing your body size and paddle measurements in the comments or in our Facebook group. Useful information would be: Height, weight, hand size (glove size if you know it), shoulder width (narrow, average, or wide is fine), what kayak you paddle and how often you paddle. Paddle length, tip width, loom width, loom height, loom width. Share your impressions from using the paddle and the building system!
Updates to the information in this video: No updates at this time.

Thanks! One thought. Have you considered hollowing the center of de paddle? Mainly in de middle section off course. Especially with the lamination you have easy acces and you could lose some weight of the paddle without compromising the strength. Bending forces are all on the outside of a tube, so the center of the loom is basically death weight. Or do I forget something?

Never made a paddle but have laminated LOTS of things. If you put a single layer of wax paper over your supports and any other jig surfaces you don't want bonded you can eliminate the step of semi-removal of alignment blocks. Also, if you do lots of glue ups having a long rigid straightedge along the far edge to use to ensure straightness can be helpful. BTW this is a very cool series you have put together! I can see how lamination would help make a superior wood paddle as you could mix and match.

Thanks for the tips. This exactly what I hoped would happen in the comments. Improves the process for everyone.

Hey there. I would really urge you to try doing a glue up with Titebond III, I really think you'll appreciate it.

Cover your workbench blocks and clamping blocks with packing tape. This is easier to work with than wax paper (it stays in place) and the glue will not stick to it.

22:00 - I didn't see you clamp to keep the center in place after lining it up with the string. Is there enough friction/weight in the system to keep it aligned after pulling on it like you did?
