Hey y’all!
As always, I hope you’re all doing great! Today I’ve been trying to figure out Dad’s KZfaq channel and getting everything set up right (I’m TERRIBLE with technology, so y’all bare with me!) There’s not much going on in this video other than an introduction to what Dad is building. I wasn’t there for the process of building it other than mixing the concrete (video of that is coming later, and I’m awful at mixing concrete!) so if y’all want to see the full 2 videos of Dad building this skinning shed, they’ll be on his channel!

Over 100K views in 14 hours! There's got to be a major TV network that will notice that this dad and daughter get higher ratings than anything they put on TV. One of those outdoor networks could double or triple their ratings by hiring this incredible duo. I was a general contractor for 20+ years, and these two wonderful people are as competent as any of my frame and trim crews.

Those tongs you were discussing are pretty good tool. Back in the days of being employed I worked in a warehouse. We had pallet tongs with a chain on it to hook on to a forklift. the tongs would grip the center board of a wood pallet. As we pulled backwards those tongs would grip harder into the wood, till the pallet could be pulled to the edge of the truck bed, then the lift would lift the load out of the truck. Ice tongs are made the same wAY.

That’s a great idea for a gnarly horror movie. Get some backwoods, inbred, hills have eyes looking people kidnappin tourists/hikers and well you know “Skinnin Shed”. Have them up in the hills in West VA. Have a couple of them look fairly normal and run a roadside beef jerky/BBQ shack and sell their “catch” as fresh. You can literally go anywhere with this story.

Almost got your comment jerked their Kenny. On a non-age restricted Channel , you can't use the word cleaning or dressing. Because that implies disembowelment. There are people at KZfaq or on KZfaq that have very queasy stomachs when it comes to organs in a tub. Skinning barely makes the cut.

My uncle and I used to use a winch like you all have above with the gambrel hooks to the back legs behind the knee (deer). The other end we had a mobile home/trailer anchor screwed into the dirt floor and we used a piece of wire rope made into a choker to anchor the skin/hide to it. We'd start to skin the hide from the rear end/tail area (which was hanging up top towards the winch end) then we'd wrap an old golf ball or baseball around the hide then put the wire rope choker loop around it. When we raised the winch/deer it would peel the skin/hide right off. Then as it got halfway off, we'd shorten the choker where it attached to the the mobile home anchor. We did it pretty much like how you and your daddy do. We had a gravel floor in his garage, but had a concrete pad poured below where the skinning rig was with a drain in it running outside down the hill. We would use a garden hose strung from his house's hot water heater to wash down the meat as it hanged. That worked really good for us. By the way Miss Hannah, how do you all cool the meat down to cure when it hangs down there where it's always so hot where you are? Our nights during hunting season here in Ky are usualy cool enough at night (30 to 45 degrees) to where we usually let our deer hang for no less than 3 days to de-metabolize and cool, makes it way better, less tough and gamey tasting. The longer it hangs before butchering and packing it, the better! So long as it stays cool! Down where you all are, it would begin to rot as soon as you kill it if you all didn't have some sort of a chill box to let that meat hang? LOL
