In this video I build a bushcraft tarp shelter in the winter rain down by the Aussie bush on our farm. My kids and I camp out in the survival shelter and practice some primitive fire starting methods. We also search for Australian wildlife at night with a high powered torch and also by setting up a trail camera.

They will never forget this little mission. I remember camping down the back of our 10acre property back in the day, always fond memories, even the cat pissing on the sleeping bag 😂

That was a nice one mate. Open eucalypt woodlands on foggy mornings might have been the thing I missed most when I lived in Canada.

Open eucalpyt woodlands is probs my favourite landscape in Australia. I guess I have been conditioned to love it since that is what I grew up with most, so it just feels like home.

Thoroughly loved this one Luke and seeing you out and about with the Little Tribe. These trips bring back so many fond memories. Ironically often miss smoking my pipe the most as i quit about 5 years back. 😂. I never got the hang of the bow drill, but when in PNG i did get shown the fire plough and that was a lot more successful. Have you considered giving this a try?

I've never tried a fire plough but certainly something to look into! I find the bow drill pretty hard, especially right now during winter. I could imagine on a hot summers day it might be a lot easier. Thanks again for watching.

Yeah I've been using it all week down the farm. If you are looking for something cheaper (though not as good quality) I've used the swan outback cam as well before.

Cheers mate. Yeah it is hard, but I have a passion for the videos and I would be making them regardless .. so I guess I'll just keep chipping away at it. Just saw some of your vids cutting down some big logs. Those logs in the forest are pretty damp (though plenty of good wood in the center) but we just had a big gum come down at the top of our hill which I have been slowly carving up. Such easy to cut when they are still green ... like slicing through cheese.
