In this DIY video I solve my own personal housing crisis by building modern tiny house on wheels. This mobile tiny home has a footprint of 11'x30' and a livable 300 SQ FT of floor space. In this long, detailed, narrated video I show you how to build every step of the entire exterior; from a bare trailer to finished home including how to frame the tiny home, how to make the roof, insulating the floor, sheathing, installing door and windows, steel roofing, vinyl siding install and everything else along the way.

Thanks so much the overwhelming support! There's a ton of comments and I'm trying to respond to a lot of them but there is just that - a lot. A lot of people were asking about Supers so I just enabled Super Thanks on here as a new way to support the channel. I'll be more personally answering most of the Super comments that come in the next little while 😀. Also, taking a couple days to relax but I'll have the plans out sometime this week! Thanks for watching, more on the way 🎥

Hey Drew. I’m a local trucker that has been driving by your place all summer seeing you progress a little more with each load I haul. I’ve been very impressed with how nice it’s been looking. This is very inspiring. I also have kids that may never get to move out unless they do something similar. I’ll keep checking it out on my trips by. If you hear the air horns , it’s likely me. While I get this build is in response to expensive home prices I am not sure even this moneys out as "inexpensive." This build is currently around $165/square foot (US...I did the conversion). And it is not done yet. There is all the interior stuff, heating/cooling and appliances to add to it. Then consider wherever this ends up it will have to pay to rent or lease some land to sit on and get sewage and electric hookups. For comparison, the median cost per square foot in the Chicago metro area is $258 per square foot. I am betting this will be close (and that is ignoring the cost of labor which...in this case...was mostly "free" because he built it himself...still needed some help). If you had to pay someone to build this the costs would sail past that $258/square foot mark with ease and it is not "cheap" anymore.

Get it with all an extra urine container and extra exterior turn handle. My ex has 2 on one boat and one in the first boat he rebuilt. Makes life a lot easier. Can't wait for the next video! I just bought a house in the country. It's 1 acre, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, for $325k... I decided to just buy a house right now instead of waiting any longer. It took me 7 years to save up. I bought it in cash. Zero mortgage. I'm 38, unfortunately. You seem to be ahead of the game here, for sure. Great work. I did look into buying a pre-built Tiny home but needed land with a leech field installed and utilities. No matter what, if you don't own the land, it's expensive. The great thing is that you can always resale this tiny home and get all your money back! If you want, get yourself some 5G internet in that bad boy! A tiny home here in the States, basically the same one you have here, is 70k USD finished with a sleeping loft. OH and routers are absolutely amazing to have. So happy when you pulled the router out 👍

personally, i really like the longer videos, whether they're 1 hour or 3 hours :) they're great to watch/listen to when i'm busying my hands doing something else-your narration is calm and easy to follow even while multitasking, but the editing style and way you present the build ensures that i never get bored watching or feel any less entertained even when the video is my sole focus. so i vote for the longer videos, especially for builds like this that are very in-depth and long track :) great work as always!

I learned by looking at old log homes up in B.C., taking lots of photos and then studying them. I did what worked and avoided mistakes that were obvious. There really is nothing to big to take on if you have desire, courage and access to a few tools and a place to work. Again, great work, Drew!

I have so much respect for you. I'm living in a tiny room that used to be for storage at my parents house at the moment because there's no chance in hell of me affording a house. Even renting in my area isn't worth it. I hope someday I can do something like this (probably smaller - I'm a short one so it's easier lol). Thank you for taking us along in your journey :)

I'm in the exact same situation. Slumlords evicted me because the price I was paging was too low (original landlord sold the house, new landlords felt rent was $900 a month cheaper than it should've been). In the end, I ended up moving back across the country and am currently living in my parents basement, it sucks, but it's atleast a roof over my head.

I am amazed by the amount of work you have done. I have watched many videos of construction crews at work, but to do this practically alone is very impressive! And that's not even counting the time it took to film and edit. The length of the video is perfect, in my opinion. 1.5 hours is just enough time to see all the details and not get bored. I repeat, very impressive, I watched it almost without skipping anything!

You're one of the very few creators that I would gladly have a 6 hour tutorial by. Not only are they beautifully made, they are so, so informative. You have a great way of teaching and explaining. Your videos are THE BEST I've found in your little niche of youtube and that's really saying something because I watch a lot of these videos. Please keep doing what you do. Can't wait to see the next video

@@DrewBuildsStuff to be honest, i would love longer videos, this is BY far the most that you have built, previously doing the solar generator car, which i absolutely adore... and what you said for getting ahead, and doing stuff like in life, thats 10000% accurate and true... people can't even afford anything here in massachusetts. let alone. the rent going sky high... from $1,000USD too, $4,000 dollars. try to get ahead, and one has to pay for the damn bills and whatnot. this truly inspired me to take furthers steps in life. Edit: i also can't wait for you to build the electrical and plumbing stuff. can't wait for that video to drop!

Absolute mad respect for you mate. This is the only long format vid that I didn't speed up or FF and watched it in it's entirety. You've done some amazing work on this channel, but this is the benchmark of your skills. Loved the cinematography, the explanations, time-lapses where needed and detailed explanations where required. I reckon this is one the most comprehensive tiny house builds out there, and you've only showcased the exterior. You'll hit a million subs with this series no worries at all. Cheers legend.

I watched again last night and thought of some points to mention for the inside. - You might consider stairs to the loft instead of a ladder. I've seen tiny homes that put drawers or cabinets in the stairs for storage. If high enough, a small stackable washer and dryer combo might work. Also, going down stairs instead of a ladder when sick would be easier. - A similar design to your couch/bed in the camper van would provide storage for the living area. - A fold down table on a wall would save walking room when not in use and could double as a dining and office surface. - A countertop toaster oven can do most anything a full size oven can and could be put in a cabinet overhead to save room. - If you go for a free standing bathroom sink instead of a vanity, you might consider niches or shelves with baskets for towels and extra bathroom products. I'm sure you've thought of these, but I thought I'd go ahead and mention them. Again, can't wait to see the inside! Best wishes!

I second the stairs. I would also be sure I could make a bed and/or sleep on the main floor if illness or an injury made it impossible to climb a ladder or stairs.

I found your channel when you made the doggo house and I've loved everything you've made so far. It's a shame that the UK is too dense and crowded, i'd love to build something like this and just move around, unfortunately our country doesn't really allow for it.
