Hahaha now catch a Squirrel in it ,You're a lot better at napping than trapping ,. Just a couple of tips , nothing in the wild likes to step on twigs on the ground ,they will go round them rather than stand on them ,Squirrels have lightening fast reactions and sharp teeth that will cut through that net before it closes , don't put rubbish on top of the net because it will stop it from pursing on light animals .Hope this helps in the future . Great camera work.

Did you catch a squirrel? Wont it chew its way out of the net?
@JohnJones-sg6hu
@JohnJones-sg6hu 4 жыл бұрын
Glenda Gonser if a squirt was captured, and stayed long enough , it would indeed chew through the net. A trapper should check the traps often enough to keep that from happening though. If using a noose frequent checking is the only humane way to prevent needless suffering. Additionally, if not checked frequently enough, a predatory animal may find your prey and get a free meal.

I'm only interested in removing squirrels from my backyard. I'm not wandering around in the woods, looking for squirrels to kill. You could use peanut butter just as easily. If you want to trap a lot of grey squirrels, the type of trap is the most important consideration. I've disposed of 350 grey squirrels since June 2014 from my backyard but most of them were caught when I switched to a new type of trap 3 years ago. The best solution to a squirrel problem is the Havahart #1083 "Easy Set One-Door Cage Trap for Squirrels and Small Rabbits" I used to use the old fashioned Havahart 1030 traps but I have upgraded to the 1083 and now have 3 of them. It also only has 1 door which makes it much shorter and I thus need a much smaller tropical fish tank to drown them in. You have to order them online, since the big box stores don't stock them for some crazy reason. This is the most humane way I have found to dispose of grey squirrels and I try and keep the water reasonably clean. The smaller tank uses less water. But most importantly 1-door traps are not only MUCH easier to set but they are also much easier to bait because the squirrel can only enter from 1 direction so the bait only needs to be behind the walk-on platform. You don’t have to “balance” the mechanism the bait sits on, thus the 1083 is also a much faster trap to bait. (My bird feeders and vegetable garden are both in the back yard and they attract grey squirrels, so I place my traps in close proximity to them. We have an Oak tree in the front yard but I don't have any traps in the front yard except in the fall.) The other great thing about this trap is that I never have any "set off" by birds. Every time this trap closes, there is a squirrel inside. The 1030 trap was frequently catching small birds, which was a huge waste of time. You will never catch a squirrel, if the trap is closed all day with a bird inside. Use cheap peanut butter for bait. And lure them into the trap with a few shelled peanuts. I then consistently take the carcass to the exact same place in a nearby woods for predators to find. I like to think this causes predators/scavengers to hunt rabbits and other small game much less frequently. I've recently discovered that possums will scavenge grey squirrels if you leave them in the same spot. I like possums, so this is a win-win for me. At night, I place mouse traps inside the closed 1083 so that only mice can get into them. (this keeps small birds out of the traps) I was surprised to discover a mouse infestation, that I was completely unaware of. The first 8 days I did this, I caught 14 mice behind our garage. email me or call with questions. devilsadvacat at gmail WRZ 2020-04-20

"Disposed of" is a pretty savage way to put that. I guess it's sort of poetic irony that you sound to be in a little cage of your own, slavishly fighting nature, desperate to assert dominance in your tiny, solipsistic realm. We can only hope you receive as humiliating and unceremonious an end as you've so proudly doled out to the GRAND (alleged) number of creatures who have tested your might.
