Way cool idea with the holders! PS. your trust in each other makes me think y'all might be sweet on eachother. In all seriousness though, I sure am jealous of that collection of post vises. I never see them come available around here. Impressive.

Next time you do that, try and fill the pipe with oil in addition to the sand... it doesn't freeze and it ads a bit of weight while filling in where the air would be

On the Uncle Bucks version, mount the vise as far out to the edge. Then add a tray on the large flat surface behind the vise to hold punches and such. I like your design too. Holds lots of tools.

Just a little food for thought Roy,we know what we're buying from Harbour freight. Try just lightly hitting them, then use a better center punch to make better digits, they will last a long time that way. All the best.

That's good advice 💯 thank you for letting me know your thoughts

I noticed that you were using the transfer punch as a center punch. The transfer punch is just a marking tool, just like a scribe is a marking tool, so it should be used to mark the location of the hole and then a center punch should be used to center punch the hole. This makes your transfer punches last much longer even if they are Harbor freight tools.

hi Roy, i ordered one of the 66lb acciao anvils from Vevor in the uk, it had a surface defect in it, a few hairline cracks with a 3mm piece that had come out, i'm in the procces or getting another one as a replacement as its like it straight out the box, looks like its a poor casting thats the cause as the condition of the metal under the surface of the bit that came out is black and crusty, so my thoughts for you is, if you still have the one you did the destruction test on how about taking a grinder or other hard cutting method to see how far down the good stuff goes, on mine it was only a couple of mm down but that would be expected in a poor cast pocket other than that the anvil seems ok, has a piss poor cast pit in under the foot arch, i tested it for rockwell, looks like this one is between 55 and 60 ( steel painted blue) which might be a bit high. hopefully the next one is better, if not i'll probably give them a miss for a while if they got a run of poor castings of all the reviews i've seen they have all ben good surface wise

Should make one that combined both, Uncle buck's holes, with your concentric circles in the huge area in bucks middle that isn't being a usable space.

@@ChristCenteredIronworksexcellent job Roy. Hey Thomas. You're a great helper. Many tasks are so much easier with a second set of knowledgeable, workhardened hands. RR spike cross, jump welding thorns onto a rose stem, heavy bags of low sulfur smithing coal. ᕙ( ͡◉ ͜ ʖ ͡◉)ᕗ

Just bought some of your blanks for hooks, bowls, and keychains. They just showed up with a nice hand written note and something extra. Do you mind if I post your generosity on my channel? Would like to make a video because I’m very happy but don’t want anything possible bad to come out of posting and I try to ask when I value someone’s business or opinion. And I want to make the forging of them videos an assumed you wouldn’t mind but sense I’m here, you don’t mind do you?
