Posting on April Fools is like an irl option select!
Anyway, I made this video 100% for fun. No real plan to make more like this or change the direction of this channel. Just thought it'd be a fun side project. Let me know if you like this kind of video though. I'm totally down to make more.
For those curious, I play:
- Blazblue - Makoto Nanaya
- Street Fighter 3/4/6 - Marisa / Ibuki
- Tekken - Asuka Kazama
- Guilty Gear - Jam / Giovanna, though I'm not a fan of Strive
-- Production notes time! --
- Huge shout out to the guys on Twitter! This video was originally posted to Twitter for feedback and 2-3 people commented and let me know that I was overthinking if I should post this. Thanks for the help! Definitely follow the Twitter/Instagram if you like this videos or this channel, as there's a lot posted there that never ends up on the channel.
- I shot all this footage last August. Came back from EVO (a big fighting game tournament) and thought this would be a quick and easy side project.
- At first, I recorded all the audio in sync with the footage. However, I made a ton of mistakes and I realized re-recording the audio and basing it off an actual script would be better. That makes this video feel a little off, because my audio was recorded separately from the footage, but I think it worked out.
- Still, this was supposed to be a quick and easy video, but like always, I ended up going overboard. Every time I'd finish an edit, I'd watch it back and think of more things to add. From those slider shots, to more panning shots, to text, to cut-in's, to gameplay footage, etc. Ended up trying a ton of new things here. Hope to bring much of it to the next Gundam review! ...MG Zeta ver KA? ...?
- Had a ton of fun recording the audio cut-in's for the button sounds. I recorded the audio after the footage, so manually synced up the sound. Felt weird, but I don't think it's super noticeable.
- Tried a lot of new panning/sliding shots. Mostly towards the end. I bought a fluid head for a trip to Japan, and decide to try and use it here. I'm not very smooth with it though, so still have a lot to learn. Also, focus is a huge issue. Most of these are macro shots so there's little to no room for depth of field. I ended up relying on auto-focus and tracking for most of it. Lead to a lot of little stutters, but whatever. It was a learning experience, and getting to create new kinds of shots really kind broke me out the haze I've been in with videos. I think I should make more videos like this, regardless of if this video goes well. It feels too good making something different.
- No music for the first 3/4 of this video... Always wanted to try it, so here we are! Let me know what you think! Ended up focusing really, really heavily on getting the audio sounding good to compensate, and I still brought the music back at the end as sort of a round-up section.
- Also, I figured out the mouth sounds issue!!! Turns out it wasn't really mouth sounds, but the click from audio not starting at 0db. Yeah, I just cut out takes/words that don't work, thinking it wouldn't be an issue with background music covering background noise up, but having removed the background music, I finally got to hear/isolate what the weird clicks were. It was tracks not starting on pure zero db. Adding a fade-in though seems to eliminate them! However, this was VERY time consuming, so instead I think I'm going to try different compressors and see what I can automate.
- The original cut of this video was 24 minutes. I went into great detail on just about everything. However, it made this video feel more like a lecture than a build video, so I cut most of it. Maybe I could add it back in if I ever made a Patreon or something. Make it members exclusive or something. Idk, probably never happening lol
The secret music for this video is reserved my one and only!
• ALEXANDRITE 2 (MAKOTO ...
I own all 3 figures of her, so part of me thinks those would be funny videos. Depends how well this video goes over.

Helped a friend build his own fight stick similar to this a couple weeks ago (after years of playing fighting games using controller thumbsticks lol). He has been loving it so hope you are satisfied with it as well!

lol, I figured this was a 'build' video, so wouldn't be too much of a stretch. I am curious though, since you don't seem into Fighting Games, would you like more videos like this, or do you prefer this channel just stick to Gundam reviews? Honestly not sure how people react to more unique videos like this.

@@redheadphones6 oh i don't mind. it's fascinating to peer into different hobbies and what people do there. i'd prefer more gunpla content, sure, but these kinds of videos are fine, too. besides, it's good knowing you have other interests outside of gunpla.

Love to see someone else using the Phreakmods Link EX Groove, it makes travel so much easier. I use an Otto diy V2 kit on my JLF to make it feel like a korean lever. The teflon V5 kit with a metal pivot might suit you if you ever feel like upgrading. Very cool to see you enjoy Blazblue. I mostly play Guilty Gear +R but recently got CF. Can't wait to dive into it!

Though I wasn't looking for Gunpla, your video showed up on my feed because I've been down the arcade stick rabbit hole lately. Just wanted to say thanks for clearing up my worries on actually going full custom. This is a lot more straight forward than I thought it'd be. Did you have to install any firmware to get things up and running?
@redheadphones6
@redheadphones6 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Great question too. I was nervous about firmware stuff, but the Brook PCB worked great right out of the box. I did later install a firmware update from their website, but it was really easy. Just download a small file, plug the stick into a PC, run the file, and it's done. Seems like it was mainly bug fixes, so not needed, but easy enough to do that I'd recommend it.

do you have links for the items in the video?
@redheadphones6
@redheadphones6 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sponsored or anything so kinda felt weird posting links to shops and stuff lol. But I basically bought everything from FocusAttack.com They have a category for the BnB fightstick that runs through all the basic parts. It's definitely the best way to build a stick like this, though I did have to go off Amazon for the Brook PCB (sold out everywhere else) and most of the buttons I already had on standby.

Works with PlayStation 5?
@redheadphones6
@redheadphones6 3 ай бұрын
Yes. This Brook PCB doesn’t control the left or right stick, but it works for the D-pad. Most fighting games will work just fine, though you should probably consult the manual to make sure.

? I really got into fighting games during my time in Japan when I played in arcades. As much as I'd enjoy rambling about my time blowing what little money I had on 3rd Strike, who the hell are you to just assume my backstory? lol Get out of here with that.
