Cool xmas surprise, Luise! Always nice to see how Eveline's progressing, she's such a dynamo. She rolled on well with some of the contractors shortcomings. Eveline's place was a great choice. Two years on and it's very close to how she wants it, which will be exciting to see. I appreciated her excellent advise to folks (like my 63yo self) thinking to come and purchase their own house/homestead: "Don't do anything over hasty" and "Make sure youhave enough money"! Amen! 💖Merry🌟Christmas, Luise🎄 Hope Eveline had good Hanukah i saw a menora on a shelf).

You are an inspiration and thanks for doing this interview. My wife and I are early 50s and really been dreaming of living more off grid, not entirely but would like to produce maybe 30% of our food and then see how things go.

For building materials go for the better quality companies in the industrial estates rather than the diy shops, (Bricomarche, Big Mat and Leroy Merlin, all near Castelo Branco)

Merry Christmas Louise,, Nice to get an update on Evelyn 🙂She has done/gotten a lot done. Boring question, How does she make ends meet/ make a living ? She seems to get good quality stuff on one hand, and live on the cheap on the other,, it a fun mix.

I used my savings to buy the house and renovation. Most of it is gone now. I live cheap. What I need to buy is diesel, animal food, my telephone bill. I earn some money by selling on the farmers market. From January 24 one of my private pension will start paying out so I will have some money again.

I paid €3740 for the drilling, but then you need the digging of the trenches and pump installation which was another €2360, but think the electrician overcharged me. It went separate from my builder.
