Visit go.3M.com/4hZE to learn more about this project or to connect with a 3M expert on your next bonding and assembly challenge.
I partnered with 3M, who sponsored this video, to make this dream project a reality. The days of forging on my porch are finally over!
A huge thank you to my friends Stu and Isaac for helping with the construction process. I've just finished up converting my disgusting old chicken coop into a blacksmithing shop where I will continue making traditional woodworking tools, hardware, and other fun hand forged projects. We had fun turning this nasty old space into an awesome, functional and inspiring shop and 3M's community experts helped us find some really creative solutions.
We made no-weld metal window frames using angle iron, 3M VHB tape, and acrylic panels, we attached privacy windows using a heat-reactive adhesive, and finally, we rebuilt and sealed off rotten portions of the building to keep the new space drier and safer than the chicken coop ever was. I cannot wait to get forging and share the many, many awesome projects that will be made in this new space!

I'm Anne of All Trades. In Seattle, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. This channel is aimed at sharing my passion for working with my hands, being a good steward of the earth, and preserving antiquated skills and traditions.

I might have some concerns about using angle iron. Rust and maintenance will be a major concern. Being a "no weld" system, I probably would have opted for aluminum angle and channel.

How resistant is vhb tape to heat? I ask because that shop will get really hot for prolonged periods and I wonder if vhb tape will keep its stickiness under those conditions? Even most industrial-strength adhesives do not do well under heat.

Watch out for your grinding sparks hitting the windows. The hot metal will leave a burnt mark you won't see till it rust. Speaking from experience. 6 weeks after turning a building over the owner complained about the glass rusting.

Great space with plenty of natural light. Were those Hardie fiber cement "stucco" panels that were used? If so, you will love how durable they are over the long run.
