Your doing it right. Look at that sweet grey gold laying flat. So what’s the answer when that spruce beetle kills every spruce in Alaska? That’s the beauty all the spruce growing everywhere. Sweet build. Cant wait for the ridge cap episode. Frame safe. Cheers.

I can't wait to see more of this AMAZING build! It's my dream to move up to Alaska someday within the next few year's. If you know of anyone in need of an A&P Mechanic, let me know! 👍👍

Awesome build buddy!!! Definitely coming along quite nicely and quickly!!! Remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!! One thing I remember when I built my house was it was just me and my wife that did absolutely everything!!! My wife was definitely a big help to me for sure!!! She works harder than most men do!!! Are house was only 1500sqft with a full basement and 9’ walls!!

We always put foam, then a 2x6 sill bolted to concrete. Then walls nailed to sill plate. We also had metal straps in the concrete to fasten to walls.This was used in heavy wind/hurricane areas. Otherwise the entire structure is just held by the bolts with no nailing surface.

I kinda looked into it I didn’t really see the benefits, not many builders use it around here either. We have a pretty dry climate and not really that windy either in the interior of ak

Looks like 2x8 walls? What insulation route are you taking? Looks great 👍
@diyalaskanlifestyle
@diyalaskanlifestyle Жыл бұрын
Yes 2x8 I’m having fiberglass blown in the walls then I’ll have 2” of foam on the inside and then I’m furring it out with 2x’s and this will be where we pull our wire. Hardly no vapor barrier penetrations

What is the square hole in the floor for? I couldn't hear. You are rocking on the build. If you didn't have in floor heat would you still put the foam insulation on the outside of the floor. Looks like it will be dried in before winter.
@diyalaskanlifestyle
@diyalaskanlifestyle Жыл бұрын
These videos are about 3-4 weeks behind I’m dried in now. Should be insulating this week. The hole in the floor is for a thermal storage tank I’m going to insulate a 1000 gal steel tank and fill with h20 my wood boiler will heat this. I will also have a baderus oil fired boiler so the wood boiler is secondary to that

And yes you put foam around the outside and bring soil up to the top of the concrete for insulation
