Here is a trick (some model railroaders do this especially when masking striping for passenger cars) for a clean edge and especially to prevent paint from the second color from bleeding under the edge of the tape onto the first color. After masking, first spray along the edge with the color you just masked over. This creates a seal at the edge of the masking tape of the color that is under the tape. Then paint the contrasting color. Then remove the tape. This can be especially useful if masking a surface that has some texture.

Thanks for the tip! Im pretty new to making models as you can probably tell. Ill be sure to use that method on the next one :)

Such a nice and oddly satisfying video. Nice music choice and cut. Thank you so much for uploading. Now I want to have this model, too. P.S.: you can use the letter "R" from the strange "Reset"-label to make the "NIKKO" a real "NIKKOR" lens... ;-)

Thank you for showing the water slide stickers applying to the lens. I was wondering about that.
@JamesWoolley13 жыл бұрын
If you submerge the stickers in water for a minute or so, then they should slide off the paper onto the model like you see in the video :)

Beautiful job well done. Could I ask for the brand name of that adhesive you used? That fine point looks great!

Why did you choose to paint the grill silver when the Adam Savage/Peter Jackson prop it is black?

Looks amazing James! Seriously question, would you build one of these for me and if so how much?

Did you have any fogging occur on the lenses from the glue used, as in is there any fogging that occurred since glueing that you can see?

Hello, very good job! Did you use even a primer before painting and which spray have you used? Thanks!
@JamesWoolley12 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I did use primer yes. But I'm not sure what brand it was sorry!

@@JamesWoolley1 thanks a lot! a further question: I have finished the assembly but the LED in my case is simply red and not "yellow to read" and not spread the light through the lens. Do you have any suggestions in away to get the right lighting? Thanks a lot!

A very good primer for such things, if you are fine with a rattle can, is Tamiya fine surface primer. A lot of plastic kit builders use it. Depending on paint type, you don't necessarily need a primer. For example, if you use a solvent based paint like Tru-Color it should bond to the plastic just fine. But a solvent based paint can also damage the plastic if applied to wet. Often, skilled modelers use an airbrush for painting plastic with solvent based paints so they get better control.

Why do we have to have a bloody computer if we need to buy these things . Why do companies keep putting BLOCKS on sales this way.

it does not make any sense why you covered the faceplate in tape, painted, then covered the outsides with tape, painted. At the start it didn't matter if you got any black on the outsides as you would paint over it with silver anyway.

I just made this kit today, the brushed metal effect is pretty shallow, it’s probably to preserve this texture.

Phil, it can only be attributed to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before and it has alway been attributable to human error. Honestly, I wouldn’t worry myself over it.
