It's so great seeing your tree house being built, it looks so amazing, may i suggest , ware the bolt goes through the floor joist, oblong the hole, so that when the tree sways it will not pull the floor with it. That is what i did when i built a big tree house years ago,and it is still standing, you can also install a firemans pole, the kids like it. Staining it would look great, and blend in

I grew up in a neighborhood of boys, next to a wooded area so we built several tree houses over time. One was in a fallen tree, one next to a street, and one high up in an oak tree. The one we painted by the street was a green, black, and brown military type sprayed on camouflage which was pretty hard to see in the summer. Mosquitos rarely fly as high as the upper one, but you could still close it tighter with cloth or screening if they do.

That is really the Treehouse Hilton! One day during the summer after my parents left for work I dug a hole in my backyard and covered it with a 4x8 sheet of plywood for an underground fort, trouble was after a couple of days I had to fill in the hole but it was fun while it lasted.😊😊😊😊

That is quite a treehouse! I have some wonderful memories of building both treehouses and forts as kids. We cobbled together some pretty cool hangouts from whatever materials we could find. They certainly weren't architecturally as nice as yours but to us they were perfect. Your not just building a new treehouse...you are building new memories. What great fun!

Neat project. There is a product that mixes with water and is applied with a tank sprayer that protects the wood and gives it a grayish or brown color, depending on which formulation you get. I don't have the name of it at hand but one of my other KZfaqrs used it on their build and it looked great.

What a wonderful play space! I grew up with a small pond on 10 acres. The dam for the pond had lots of medium sized trees on it. My friends across the road would come over, and we built a rickety old tree house on the back side of the damn. Countless hours of memories! Of course I can not see a tree house and not think about Swiss Family Robinson. Great episode! ❤

That's exactly how I started my skills building tree houses when I was a kid certainly not like that one that's pretty awesome. It kind a look cool if you just use linseed oil as the finish that way it's still look pretty natural like your mom wanted.

I built a tree house with my son when he was 8 years old he is now 32 ands still enjoys it !! It is 8'x16' with 4' of it beibf a deck ,we kept it simple its mainly just a box but we put a ladder to the roof with a rail all around it , We started with just a ladder going up to it ,16' above thr ground !! I later found anold spiral stair case out of an old paper mill and installed it to the tree house !!!

I suspect your mom has the right of it- staining it would be tops, all around. Less maintenance, great appearance. I would suggest testing on pieces of the treated lumber and the untreated- the treated lumber will need a darker stain to "lose the green" and look best with the raw wood will when stained. Great project- had a lot of the whole neighborhood out for a look see- Texas at it's best.

That ain't a tree house, that's a MANSION with a Penthouse on the top floor. And if you really wanna go fast on that slide, sit on some wax paper while you go down. That will really get you flyin.

Its a beautiful Play Place for the kids as well as the adults! Love it! I am going to be kInd of nitpicky here, just to be Safety Sam, the slide does flex a lot when the adults come down, not near as bad when the kids go through. It might need a support pole near the midway down, maybe some sort of foot where it touches the ground might help as well. I know the idea is to be as natural as possible with the whole thing. Also, the stairs coming from 'The Cool Place" need some of that what we called 'Pig Fence' wire along the sides of the rails if you have smaller kids going up or coming down from there, so no kiddos slip through teh cracks. If I am being an overprotective Grandpa, I can live with that. I am sure you all are thinking of it, but any kind of paint or finish is good as long as it seals the wood from rot. I love the swing underneath. Looks like there is room for a 'Hammock Zone' under the other floor supports, away from the swing! Would love to see it all finished up. Great Job to All who built on it! Loved seeing Mom sliding and having fun.

Emily this has nothing to do with the treehouse, and is probably a question for Aaron to answer. How did you guys find out you needed a transom in your big boat? Was it just the leak? Are there any signs to look for? I have a chance at a 26 ft cabin cruiser that is 350 mercruiser powered. It has a bad motor and I have one that is good. But after your nice boat developed a need fro a transom I am gun shy. What should I look for?
