This has to be the craziest project yet. I think if you looked inside Riley's head you would see Gears, Wires, Pulleys and Welders. Basically his head is filled with Steampunk!. I'm sure there is a easier way to do this but then it wouldn't be Riley and I wouldn't have anything to watch on Sunday mornings. So thanks guys and Happy New Year!

Honestly, I thought since it was "Wreckless Riley" at the wheel that he would get it stuck. 🏎 And Courtney would have to rescue him. 🚜 I seriously laughed out loud when the skid steer picked up the car (that was so unexpected). LOL, then the skid steer had to push the car in the door! I love the Riley and Courtney show. And of course, what winter show from AS would be complete without the Snowlander coming to the rescue. I hope yall had a wonderful Christmas.

Wow, nice bump this time, almost 280 now. Finally you open up about this!! Been seeing it in the background for some time and asking about it. That was a fun ride with a thrasher and proper use of a skid steer. Why not just a run a PTO off the trucks tranny? Or a small gas engine running a hydro pump? Both would be so much easier.
@yoplaitmajor
@yoplaitmajor Жыл бұрын
That's a commercial, 2-stage ribbon and impeller, 84" wide (I think) snow blower. Running that off the LMTV 275hp/860lb-ft would not only hamstring both the truck and the blower, but it's unsafe to do so when taxing the platform at very low temperatures. To keep performance and reliability high, it's best to run the blower off its own source. Using the vehicle engine as an APU as Riley and Courtney are doing achieves this. If anything, the 140hp/150lb-ft 2.2L out of the Sunfire is still undersized for the job. Riley's done his homework for an effective, affordable solution.
@johnjr3870
@johnjr3870 Жыл бұрын
@@yoplaitmajor Not at all with the speed they are running it at. Should be a PTO on the tcase and the torque the cat engine has. DO you think the plow trucks out run a second engine down the road? If a 75 HP tractor can do it, why not them?
@chrisdaniel1339
@chrisdaniel1339 Жыл бұрын
@@yoplaitmajor Riley said it is an 8 ft (96") wide blower. For such a large blower I think it is underpowered, he should have considered engines just over 225 hp so that after losses for gearing, friction, etc he would have 200 hp at the blower for great performance from the end product. I also would not have chosen a computer controlled engine, he would have been better off with a pre 1994 diesel AG tractor engine, stand alone industrial diesel engine possibly from a large generator, or medium duty diesel truck engine so there would be no electronics or sensors
@yoplaitmajor
@yoplaitmajor Жыл бұрын
@@johnjr3870 Totally get what you're saying. But PTO isn't going to power that monster the way it needs to be. And yes! Some commercial application snowblowers use APUs to power the ribbon and impellers. Not required of course, depending on the application. But for this project, the APU is a VERY good idea.

Love the idea, But if your open to some advice, using the cruise control to regulate engine speed will cause a lot of issues, would be way simpler to get a basic lawn equipment engine speed lever or choke lever and make a disconnect so you can control the engine speed inside the cab with ease. The load will change so much that it's gonna be hard to regulate. Also, you can make fuel system easier by getting a 10-15 gal square tank and a fairly cheap external high pressure fuel pump to save a lot of space and complexity instead of trying to adapt that fuel tank as it will have to be flat to use it and that is going to take up a crazy amount of space. Just my two cents from a mechanic/fab guy myself. Love the build idea tho. Can't wait to see how you put it all together. Happy Holidays

That's exactly what i was gonna say. If he can buy a throttle lever assembly off something like a Kubota tractor for example, it would simplify the project a lot.

He's gonna need 50+ HP to run that blower, so 'lawn equipment' engine seems lacking
@jonathanlemire2797
@jonathanlemire2797 Жыл бұрын
@@funone8716 it's just the throttle assembly he needs. He's already gonna use the sunfire engine but needs a way to control it. Kubota uses the same type of throttle on 25 to 100+ horsepower hydrostatic tractors.
@funone8716
@funone8716 Жыл бұрын
@@jonathanlemire2797 He needs all the shitload of electronics and computer to run it in it's stock form as well no?
@jonathanlemire2797
@jonathanlemire2797 Жыл бұрын
@@funone8716 yes. But doesn't need the cruise control. So basically the throttle assembly from a tractor would replace the pedal assembly jn the car. Back then, the throttle body was still physically attached to a throttle cable, versus modern cars that are fly by wire. The throttle lever would not move once he sets it at the desired speed, so doesn't need a complicated cruise control.

Courtney and Riley need to come up with their next revenue generating fabrication project/product - we should all help. This is going to be one crazy job just keep track of all your fingers and toes! When all else fails use a old Army stand by “duct tape or 150 miles per hour tape because when your hydraulic hose got hit and they were shooting at you. Take your pot fill it full rice paddy water and fly out of there where they weren’t shooting at you. Hey it worked but the hydraulics was no good afterwards. Yes 110% crazy but true !
