Boulder Creek Railroad

Boulder Creek Railroad

Күн бұрын

This project has been in development since January 2022, and the original idea stems right back to the underground subway diorama that was built back in November 2019! It only took almost 12 months to finish!
I tinkered with this project on and off over that time but really knuckled down for the past 3 months to get it completed.
The original TinkerCAD file can be found here for those wanting to download and 3D print the model as well: www.tinkercad.com/things/hqU0...
Also a parts list is available on my website here: www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/...
I designed it in such a way that it can be retrofitted and adjusted by others who also want to have a go at building something similar.
While all the files are final designs that worked for my finished model you may still find depending on what 3D printer settings you use you may still need to make minor adjustments to your printed pieces in order to get them perfect. The tolerances are quite tight.

This is utterly incredible. Back in the 1990s, I tried to make an HO escalator using a kit of whitemetal parts, and very nearly gave up on that. So to do one that looks that good and actually works, is simply jaw-dropping. No wonder it took a year to do.

these 3D printers have really impacted the scale modeling world as a whole. whether it would be model railroading, tabletop/wargaming, or just simple maquettes used by the engineering/architectural industry, it is a great and generally cheaper solution to older techniques such as casting with resins and other plastics. i am looking forward to what these incredible machines will bring us in the future!

@@EvoKey Mmmm, can one do rubber FDM printing? More likley is resin laser printing a rigid version as a master to create a mold then casting a stretchy silicone.
