The fixed gear world can be staunchly resistant to change, which is why the Tyrant Beastie is such a refreshing take on the aluminum fixed gear. Tyrant intentionally made the Beastie with beefier tubing to smooth out aluminum's harsh ride quality while retaining its stiffness that fixed gear riders love. Join me in this fixed gear bike build of the Tyrant Beastie.

Hi bike mechanic here. The seat tube conditioning thing I think someone was fucking with you. I guarantee you can ruin a seat tube by clamping it without a seat post in the frame. Because I have done it

@@JitinMisra I ride a carbon MTB with carbon bars and cranks. I would say it all depends on how thick the part is. I have scratches and chips on my MTB frame but it’s so thick and strong compared to lighter road bike components. Personally I love carbon parts they ride really nice. Steel is definitely way more robust for crashes.

Can’t wait to see you ride it. Regarding the rusted internal cable screws they were ordered as non rusting. We’ve been selling the Beastie for almost two years now and we never had a complaints regarding them rusting. However we are getting new ones and will replace them to any customer that wants them. Regarding the carbon forks we have never warrantied one to this date. They hold up really well.

I own a carbon fork cyclocross bike and it feels way smoother to ride than aluminium or steel. I had the same fears when I got it, but over time I build trust. It takes impacts very well; even on heavy terrain like in forests or stone paths. The flex works like a build-in suspension. Streets are 0 problem for modern carbon.

i'm into mid school bmx bikes from the late 90's to early 2000's and those bikes all had seat clamps with more than 1 bolt. i can tell you it was mostly for looks 😂it could've been functional for bmx as it would really make sure your seat doesn't go down when you miss pedals and land on your ass, but all modern frames now have single seat clamps bc they work fine if you tighten them up enough. Double seat clamp has no reason to be on a fixed gear even tho i think it looks kinda cool. my 96' mongoose villain has a triple seat clamp which is absolutely ridiculous but it looks damn sick

People use carbon forks on rigid MTBs with cargo cages strapped to them bikepacking through mountain ranges so I think you'll be fine. Nowadays carbon is a go to material for rigid forks. I have one on my gravel bike, rode a lot through washboards, roots and potholes with zero problems.

NEVER put hooked clincher tyres on hookless rim, even with tubes. You can try if the rim has hooks and bead lock, but I still would not recommend it as it might burp a little explosive with 72psi if it does not lock in the bead properly.

Side question: whats with the weird ideas about carbon being fragile?
@YungStinkyWinky
@YungStinkyWinky 4 ай бұрын
Not that it's fragile, but that when it fails or has a minor flaw, it fails catastrophically. It doesn't show damage signs early enough so you can replace it (you can ride on a cracked/dented metal bike for a bit until you do), it just explodes on your ride and sends you face-first into the road. Miss me with the carbon, I'll stick to my aluminum and steel bikes.
@galenkehler
@galenkehler 4 ай бұрын
@@YungStinkyWinky where do you get the idea that a minor flaw will cause a catastrophic failure? That's more of an issue with aluminium to be honest, where a tiny crack can propagate. The multiple layer layup of carbon actually provides a lot of redundancy and resilience. I've ridden carbon disc wheels for example with holes punched in them from axles in transit and they're still perfectly functional. And carbon is much more repairable

@@jedi.knight5859 every reputable engineer in the world said that wasn't an appropriate use of carbon fiber. Would have failed if it wasn't made properly, regardless of material. A better analogy is if I gave you a bicycle made of cardboard, and then it folded up when it got wet. Just a bad material for the application, but cardboard is a great thing for boxes. If anything, oceangate reinforces the need for knowledge of material science instead of fear based on ignorance)

Why so much repeated content about single speed bicycles that have no brakes ? Where I live, riding a bicycle without brakes is illegal. Makes sense too. If you collide with a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing, because your bike has no brakes, you are in big trouble - with the Police, hefty fine, bike confiscated, sent to scrap yard for crushing. You pay for all meds to the person you struck, possibility of jail as well as being Sued by a Barrister for damages to the person.
