Reinforced concrete is heavy and its steel skeleton vulnerable to rust. Now researchers have replaced the steel with carbon fibre mesh. The result is lighter and more flexible than standard concrete slabs.

No mention of Concrete Canvas which can already "make chairs and tables" etc and is in fact in widespread use already and doesn't need to be made with expensive carbon fibres.
@patrickeh6965 жыл бұрын
Canvas is old tech. Basalt material is MUCH stronger and is in every way FAR better than canvas.
@Sugarsail15 жыл бұрын
@@patrickeh696 and far cheaper than carbon fiber too. Only a German would ever consider carbon fiber as concrete reinforcement (the most energy intensive and expensive fiber to produce in the world) and then brag about their "lowering emissions."

@@Sugarsail1 well... 60% of their power comes from coal it's no surprise that the most greedy idea would be to find another use for that huge stockpile of coal they already have!

its not new because lots of material in ancient time use mixer of fiber and cement type of material use by them to make more structural and complex building like ancient temple

In addition to the fiber skeleton, you can put bits of waste carbon fiber, to help bind everything in case of cracks or fractures. -another good thing to do is to put sensors inside at regular intervals, besides use external means to check.
@Charlesincharge425 жыл бұрын
Carbon fiber is inferior in several ways to basalt fibers. Basalt fibers are cheaper to make and have the same expansion coefficient as concrete to boot.

If you build a home and prep the frame properly before pouring the cement you can even use chicken wire. Anything adding to the concrete to assist with street if better than nothing. My dream is to used metal fences between my concrete walls so the house doesn't fall on my if we have an earthquake.
@bruticusmagnus5 жыл бұрын
Actually chicken wire will corrode and can cause lamination.
@patrickeh6965 жыл бұрын
chicken wire will cause internal failure of the concrete. Best to use basalt mesh.

derxman and they crack and go brittle over time. This won’t work. Polymers CAN replace steel, and can be made from plant material at a much lower price. Cellulosic material (wood or herb stalk with lignin removed) can also be used, and with new technologies, we can make it much stronger than steel and make it in long sections.

really cool product for the rich , basically its the same thing every good product overlooks the poor , its all about money
@JamesMichaelDoyle6 жыл бұрын
no. its not at all. this is cheaper. the materials are less, energy to produce is less, and the size and weight is less. all of these things means cheaper product. the only thing that had its initial cost high was not enough production. they have already automated it, and the price is steadily going down as more production facilities are created. this is how technology works and comes to market.
@jhyacinthocorner22696 жыл бұрын
carmichael moritz you remind me of a college student I had in my class. His ideal society would be the kind of society that could share everything with out paying for. It may be possible, however keep in mind that everything has a cost for it production. I wouldn't say the poor couldn't own it, I would say they have to work a little hard it and safe a little more. If you want it so bad it will happen.

it is total BS...it isn't invention at all.. I'm sorry to say..sorry because better to use stainless steel than this..at least it would be cheaper....there is no mentioning of the price..and there is good reason for that...Another 'invention' that works..but is very unpractical..If they said .price will be same as steel ..then it would be something new..
