This video goes over how to build a list of colleges to apply to using important factors to consider, like where to college is located, financial aid, ACT and SAT score range, and acceptance rate. How to compare schools on your list using those factors, and finally decide on a final list of colleges.
(What should occur before you start writing your common app essay and other college essays!)
Be sure to stick to the rule of quality over quantity when it comes to how many colleges you apply to. You what to spend time on your college essays-- and you only have so much time for each.

College is about fit, not rankings. However, rankings cant be totally discounted. It's just not wise to choose a school based on rankings alone. The academic curriculum and how it will benefit you in future endeavors,prestige of the school, and the strength of its alumni network should mean more than year to year rankings that change annually!

We wanna see the paying for collage video !!!!! Also why do people say it's better to apply to like 10 collages and not as many as possible like 15, I heard a few people say that already and I'm curious because I would think applying to more is better?

Quality > Quantity! It takes a really long time to make a college application high quality. It's better to spend time perfecting a few rather than stretching yourself thin.

College applications are expensive and if you are applying to 15 schools, you probably don't want to go to some of them and are just applying to apply. I get not wanting to put all of your eggs into one basket but applying to 15 schools is excessive.

When I say I appreciate this so much! Like everything you've said in this video and even the spreadsheet you made and linked in the description. I'm only a freshman in high school (I made this account when I was 10) and this was so helpful. I love to think about college now even though I'm really young and I am really grateful for all of your videos. They are so helpful and I just want you to know, none of your work and advice put into these videos goes unnoticed or unappreciated. I love you and your channel! You are so smart and inspirational.

This isn’t technically a video idea, but you mentioned in the comment section of a previous video that you will be doing a Q & A in the future. Will that still happen? I really like the idea of that kind of video because you can cover a wide range of topics that people have questions about. Also, could you please make a video centered on giving tips for Freshmen/Sophomores in high school which talks about different classes or extra-curricular activities that will impress colleges on future applications?

Thank you so much for providing all this great info, Makenna! I’ll be applying this fall to colleges, and I have to say I’m pretty nervous to do so. Is it possible for you to show us viewers how exactly you filled out and worded all the information on your Common Application (like how you described the clubs you were involved in, what you put in the additional info section, etc.)? Also, could you please share your personal essay or supplemental essays that you submitted? I believe we would find it truly helpful if you could show us these b/c many of us have no clue how exactly a personal or supplemental essay should be formatted and on what caliber/level we should be writing on to impress the admissions officers at these elite colleges. Once again, thank you so much for all the help so far!

Please do a paying for college video! It's very important and it stresses me out sometimes, because I am in the middle class, so I can't really get need-based aid but I can't fully pay for it. Its especially hard if you want to go out of state or to a private school.

I’m a sophomore but I want to be successful so I want to learn early I really don’t know if I want to be a lawyer or an actress my dream career is being an actress but I feel like I wouldn’t get into good schools 😿 and I don’t want to spend my time on something I might not even be successful on, so for now Im looking to be a lawyer even though I really want to be an actress/ also how can I get colleges to like me like really good schools I literally go to school and take normal classes I don’t do anything for me to get recognition so what can I do? I use to think school isn’t a big deal but after I saw your video I want to be successful, and make my parents happy! But I’m not smart so I need to get my act together

Can you please explain why students who plan on applying for financial aid should apply need blind? Wouldn't applying to need aware schools increase your chances of receiving financial aid if admitted? Is it because an applicants chances at a need aware school could potentially decrease if the university can't support them financially?
