For anybody in the Phoenix area that wants to make this run (car or motorcycle), look up Tortilla Flat/Canyon Lake for directions. They just repaved this road a few years ago. It’s nice of THE most satisfying set of twisties I’ve ever been on in the country. The video doesn’t do it justice. Up hill is even more fun. Great place to go for a night or weekend trip too...Boating/wakeboarding/fishing. There’s a few lakes around that area. This road goes straight to the smaller one, Canyon Lake. It’s beautiful.

Nice roads out there! I have done that a few times myself. I saw that some of that understeer was driver induced. When you come into a corner without and brakes on there isn't any weight over the front wheels. Then when you turn in abruptly you get understeer. Also cornering while accelerating will cause understeer. Some impressive speeds you are carrying, but in order to be safer and have more fun I would suggest getting more seat time on a track.

While it's true that WRXs like to understeer a lot (speaking from experience lol) , I agree that most of that could've been resolved simply by adjusting his style of driving.

So how far in to a turn do you brake?

@@dancingcalcium depends on the balance of the car and type of turn. A tire has only so much grip. Therefore the more you turn the less you brake. As you start turning in you begin to get off the brakes up until you are at maximum cornering potential of the tire and have no brakes on. Look up G circle, relating to cars, and trail braking for more thorough explanation.

He’s gettin pretty good speed through some of these turns. His suspension is set up NICE. There’s a few sketchy hairpins too. A few people die up there every year. No guard rails. Mostly motorcyclists.

I don't think he was pushing it particularly hard in those corners to really show what his upgraded suspension can do, if anything. My stock '19 probably wouldn't look much different on that road at those speeds. Regardless, car looks great, sounds great, and that road looks sublime.

This is one of the best canyon roads in Mexico 😂 i’m very fortunate to live 10-15 minutes from it. I hit it every weekend in the Miata or FoST 🤙🏼

Really nice driving but a tip I have is for you to lightly decelerate a little but dont take ur foot off the gas bcs applying the gas will actually improve the grip because of the continues spin so you can maintain velocity and not squeal ur tires

I guess it depends on driving style - more control is always better but if he makes mistakes at 9 & 3 just because he isn't comfortable then it really comes down to technique over technicality. I know a dude who puts down great lap times at the track just palming the wheel w his left hand 😂
