So I listen to this Bulgarian music by an Israeli mandolist living in Germany here in Japan after watching a youtuber in New York talk about it and realize that this was at the guitar festival in Millstatt 2014 which is less than a 100km from where I used to live at the time. Small world.

The mandolin and accordion almost give off pirate vibes. I'm guessing partly that pirate music has a big Mediterranean influence and partly a big stereotype that may be flabby, but still it's interesting to think of a connection!
