Let's face it, corals need major, minor and trace elements in order to grow and today Ryan talks through the various ways that reefers add these to the tank. Along with that, we explore what the most simple and stable approach will be for the BRS/WWC Hybrid System tanks!

Man I don’t know what I would do without these videos from BRS. I’m in the process of setting up a new reef after 8 years of not being able to. I signed up for the APEX giveaway and the drawing is on my birthday week so I’m feeling lucky 🍀! NK

Ryan, I'm just going to be "open and honest" here... I check back regularly looking for an update on the BRS 160, and it seems like we go for an eternity between updates. I think it is time for a "simple and stable" webcam on the tank so those of us that are total junkies can get a 160 fix (daily if needed). While we're at it, a webcam on the fuge too...Sorry, I'm a complete BRS addict...

I just switched to the All For Reef in search of an ULM mixed reef tank that works for me. I have a 75 gal tank with a 20gal triton sump design. The refugium is 13gal with an oversized skimmer. I did carbon dosing via vodka before with kalkwasser and wasn’t having the success I wanted. I’m trying to reduce and get my water changes to 20% every 3 months. I’ve been running the All For Reef for almost 3 months and I’m about to do my ICP test and see where my tank is at. I’ve continued to carbon dose via vodka and noticed an increase in the required dosing to Maintain my Alk at 9dkh. I didn’t realize how it worked until explained in this video.

The new BRS Pharm two part is a major upgrade. It is clean and works great. Thanks for putting out an awesome product. BRS 2 part and Red Sea trace works well for me. 😀

I personally love the red sea program, I do 2-4 40% water changes a year on my sps dominate tank because of it and everything grows very well and has great colors as long as I keep up on my testing. The only thing I do that stays from their program is using the brs soda ash for alkalinity. I use their calcium because it has strontium and eventually I will switch to using their colors, nopox and calcium along with brs alkalinity and magnesium once I run out of red sea magnesium.

Since WWC is doing 10% water changes a week, I would like to know how they filter their water and what salt they use.

Another great video. I am still in my very slow cycle with just fish - giving time for my tank to be stable before adding corals. I'm also using the time to get set with the right salt mix to maintain alklainity and calcium. You mentioned that most of your staff use the Tropic Marin Coral Pro salt. Since it mixes to an alkalinity of only 7 and your target is 8, do you add any sodium bicarb or anything else to raise alkalinity in your newly mixed salt before using it for a water change?

But in this video it says to do 7.5 scoops part C per gallon and dose equal amounts 25:08

Hey Mike, We replied to your comment on another video, but will reply here as well 🙂 4 scoops per 1 gallon of RODI and dosing twice as much is the current recommendation. This was changed due to concerns of precipitation with the 7.5 scoops per gallon ratio that was previously suggested. Ultimately, the results are virtually identical.
