Melevsreef Marc Levenson makes a nice box called the peace keeper. If you have eurobrace it has arms to suspend the box wherever you want over the tank.

I have made something similar in the past, but I used a soldering iron to make the holes. It had nice rounded edges.

I've used a CPR in-tank refugium as an isolation box several times. It came with a small pump for circulation that plugs in the side like Ryan described you might use a Maxi-Jet. On the downside, it's attached to the glass with suction cups so it can slide pretty easily, and will grow algae since it's a five-sided box. One of the last residents was a small Carpenter's wrasse that stayed in for a couple days, but while I was scraping algae in the tank bolted through one of the holes. I might try to make a three-sided version as they described one day.

adding one of these to my tank to ensure I isolate my red knob sea star to his favorite spot in the tank across from the powerhead where I hand feed him away from my corals and he gets good moderate flow. I plan on using the box to only isolate him so I'll be generous with the amount of holes to keep the flow moving through the tank. I expect only a minor shift in my flow with potentially more movement due to the added flow diffusion from the isolation box. My 20 gallon is young but since I have had my starfish I haven't seen any predation or aggression towards my coral. He moved across the tank when he was first settling in, which I supervised, and he played nice with the coral walking past and settling in at the top left corner of the tank. I understand he'll grow but for the time being this seems like a great option. Since I've kept him I've kept a very close eye on him and he's been happy staying and getting fed in that corner. Just an added precautionary measure at this point. and my flow is subjectively low in the tank so not too high for a starfish but he does enjoy the highest spectrum of that flow. also he actively eats, moves his arms, and has great color. I like turtles but I love Starfish IYKYK

@MelevsReef has some acclimation boxes called the peacemaker. They look very nice, think I’m going to get one for my next tank.

Just added my Atlantic Blue Tang after two weeks in the isolation box. Most of the fish didn’t care and only one of my three other tangs made a slight fuss. Had a couple days of a little chasing and now it is accepted in the tribe.

I made mine from pvc pipe and mesh zip tied to it then magnets to hold it in place, had 5 yellow tangs in it worked great and very cheap.

I went to lowes and they have a glass cutting station. They cut my acrylic sheet to my specifications.

I think if you just pulled all the guts out of a HOB refugium, and poked some holes in it, that would be the trick. Please try this!!!

Based on my experience with an isolation box is that it doesn't really work. The fish didn't care about the fish inside the box. Didn't even go near it for weeks. After releasing the fish from the box it got harassed by my mystery wrasse. The mirror trick did wonders for the aggression though.

Lowe's will cut the plexiglass for you, so you don't have to worry about your cuts; Home Depot does not because they suck...

Dont bother making them they still wont be affordable.... i make mine with the plastic used for yarn weaving... whole project cost 10 - 20 dollars

Love BRS! Long time fan! Ryan don’t take this wrong love so much about you and the channel, however the use of the word “uhhh” has become way to common. If you made a compilation of Ryan’s uhhhs it would be very long. Hard to listen anymore without hearing it and getting annoyed. Again love so much of this channel but can’t handle another uhhhhhhh.
