Great work Joanna and Nick. Gotta love Electric Fencing. For us Electric Fencing has been one of the best and most employed strategies in our livestock management. Like you Joanna we've used it to keep ours and the neighbours bulls apart because nature being what it is, each bull wants to get rid of the other and take his cows etc. We also, back in our dairying days when a drought was upon us, used the Electric Fence for daily strip feeding/grazing of irrigated planted Autumn/Winter oats etc. It was at the time, a widespread practice here in my part of Australia.This was done by each day fencing a strip of ungrazed oats in a irrigated paddock, the dairy cattle were then given access to that strip most of the day and ate every bit of the Oats in that strip and that was then followed by the pulling up and moving the Electric Fence along to an equal sized ungrazed strip in that field for the following day's s grazing. This was a very economical although tiresome/labour intensive way of feeding Oats in drought time but it stopped the cows trampling a lot of good feed into the ground which would then not be utilised in milk production. We never did strip grazing with the beef cattle herd though as that was a different paradigm altogether. Sorry for babbling on. As always; well done guys.

Hey Y'all, What Fun two bulls having a growling / grunting contest!!! Snorting, foaming at the mouth pawing and scratching at the ground or grass just acting like a child pitching a fit. I guess bulls get brain damage from testosterone just like teenage males which lasts a lifetime! That is why I stopped growing up at twelve and a half years old so I would not get the brain damage. So far it is working because I am 60 and no signs of brain damage yet.. That is a beautiful black bull I hope your cows get some really good genetics from him!!! I use electric fencing a lot.........i run it along beside the hedges to stop the cows and calves from getting in the hedge and making gaps and along beside road hedges. once they get use to it they respect it pretty well. it's a good idea to check on the fence each day to make sure theres nothing touching the wire cos that weakens the strength of the shock if its touching brambles or weeds too many places. it's probably a good idea to have 2 batterys so when 1 is in use you can have the other one on charge

Jo, when the bull had a shock it made me jump, he is a nice looking animal and hopefully his calves will do well. You must be very pleased with your late flush of grass, which looks lush and helps out with feeding. Best wishes from EA.

Electric fence is literally a life saver in many situations. Too bad the neighbor doesn't have one on his side too. An added tip... Keep the fence hotter by adding a couple more ground rods.

I gasped when the bull got zapped, loudly enough to wake my wife! I wanted my Dad to use more electric fencing to save me from splitting posts, digging holes, etc. I'm sure he was saving money. The farm looks beautiful right now.

Nice bully bull he did not like that shock but that is a great idea you may now get a little rest here and there I hope so and you're having your first Frost already we haven't had ours yet we're a bit further south 😁😉🐝

Love the tester when I started on the farm full time as an apprentice in the 70s my boss used to grab the electric wire with his hand and you could see his arm jumping. I was a 16 year old wimp and used to use a stalky blade of grass. The bull looks the business. Whereabouts did he come from please?

What is with those neighbours? Putting a bull right in the next field and then you having to get the fence!! LOL if he jumps the fence to those other girls and the boys don’t fight then you should charge stud fees LOL He is spectacular

electric fence is the only way to go ..........good battery fencer is as good as any ........they have improved on them a lot in the last few years .......just be careful not to have anything touching the wire as it will run down the battery ..........u can give the battery a quick charge with a set of jump leads off a tractor or pickup ........keep the fencer well back in from the wire , as i have had cattle grab the wire coming from the battery and pull the fencer out into the field and chew the wires ........have had bulling heifers one side of a wire and a bull the other and it kept them apart ..........the bull walked up and down the full lenght of the wire all day and wore a track in the ground but did not cross the wire
