Bull keeps escaping. He has got to go, but will we ever get him loaded on the trailer?

Our Brangus herd bull is proving to be nearly impossible to keep penned and separated from the cows now that breeding season has ended. We make the tough decision to sell him, but he keeps escaping and we run into multiple issues trying to get him loaded and shipped to the sale barn. We also help my brother get his feed bin moved. A fairly cheap electric fence will slow him down especially if you hook it up straight 120 volts.

just my observation as have had same thing happen before flipping that trailer door open and slipping between gate and trailer but had a crazy finished fat calf get its head underneath the 2 ft. of space between the ground and trailer door and bust the hinges off my cornpro trailer and get out. Needless to say loading anything anymore i chain a piece of 4x4 post to occupy that gap and they dont even try it anymore once you get them up right before getting on the trailer. loading cattle sure is fun....

Pull the cover off the front of the A/C compressor clutch off and remove one of the shims or the shim if it only has one. I’ve dealt with the issue on that style compressor clutch.

Oh yeah. He had gotten to where he was really pretty calm out on pasture and definitely bucket trained, but once that gate closes, the game changes!

I think that’s what we ended up doing. Shame he wouldn’t behave. We were sorting calves and preg checking this morning and I was commenting that he threw a helluva nice calf crop!

I had one that wouldn't stay in. When I found him with the neighbors cows again I warmed him up with my shot gun. Hit him about 60ft away. He ran right to where he keep getting out and never tried that crap again!

Yes, he's a crazy SOB and he's learned he has that he has the ability so you aren't going to stop him. If it wasn't such a pain, I would say drop him where he stands, load him up and take him to the slaughter house! We've had papered bulls that the bloodlines were outstanding and they were crazy. Threw hot calves, just a nuisance. If I had had a gun, I would have freely shot them. Especially when one in particular had my 10 year old nephew pinned under the truck and just kept bashing the truck. Hamburger meat for sure 😄

Fortunately, I’ve never had one so bad that we couldn’t catch them and get them to the sale barn, but I do know of folks that have had to resort to shooting one.
