Another rule of thumb is : $1.40 in constitutional silver equals an ounce(depending on wear of course)

A mnemonic device I use is 1 troy oz is $1.40 in constitutional silver is similar to 100 seconds is 1:40 (one minute, forty seconds)

I think Constitutional Silver is a great way to start and for .999 silver Austrian Philharmonic coins. It’s on the cheaper end with money and still enjoyable!

When I first started buying silver coins and silver rounds I always would buy two of each coin/round.... one to put away and keep in BU condition and the other to handle and play with regularly, I think being able to actually hold and handle them made me appreciate them and enjoy alot the coins more as opposed to just having all of them in plastic cases forever. Just a suggestion for the ones who are new to this.

My first purchase was my worst - I was fretting to get to the point where I was paying no interest on my dwindling debt, and hot for silver. This was March of 2023. I bought 6 silver eagles at $41 each. Stupid. But I did get a 5 oz bar for spot. It was ignorant FOMO. I did NOT repeat that mistake. I also appreciate the guidelines for the percentage of premium over spot. I so enjoy Harry and the guys! Wish they were here in SC!

Wow that answers my question on the liberty rounds I got and their website having security issues when I checked it out. I have a silver 1 oz $10 liberty round, and half oz with the same denomination, and 1/10 oz liberty round with a $5 denomination. Got them fairly early into my stacking was always curious about them and if they were backed incase I needed to barter them. Guess not 😂

I've been stacking for 14 years and I just discovered that a huge part of my stack are vintage, more rare rounds. I picked them up as low premium bullion years ago, when Maples were hard to come by.

Just like how the first step for most any coin collector is to get a box/case of penny rolls ($25 or 50 rolls of 50 pennies each) and see how many year/mintmart holes they can fill in the Lincoln cent albums (the Dennis the Menace episode Penny Collection inspired me to start a couple years ago), I think the first step for silver should be the silver FDR dimes and see how many year/mintmark holes you can fill in. That I think would be the cheapest and most fun.

Silver Dragon- We have had many discussions by multiple experts on why we should stack gold and silver which has been very enlightening and educational but I think it’s time to have the discussion that when the poop hits the fan how can we use our stacks to sustain ourselves. What options will be available in that time to liquidate our metals. What we have now may not be available when that time comes. One coin dealer said that if silver went to a $100 dollars he would have to close his shop. Would not be able to support buy backs. Basically what options would we have in a chaotic environment to liquidate our metals outside of barter.

Why would he have to close? He's operating on the bid/ask spread. Coin shops weren't shutting their doors in 1980 when silver pushed $50 (and that's ~$180 now) or in 2011 when it also pushed $50 (~$68 now).

As an ancient coin collector I wish Harry would price his ancient coins properly. I don’t think he’s trying to be malicious I just think it’s an area he’s less familiar with. I know it’s tough to do because it’s so complicated but I could help him for free!
