On Nov 28, 1992 - Michael Jordan injured his foot at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. The Bulls get blown out by 40!!
He misses the next game against the Celtics. The Bulls lose again.
The Boston Globe reports that Michael has a torn tendon in the arch of his left foot and that it is a major injury. A similar injury kept him out for almost the whole of his sophomore season.
Now it's Dec 4, 1992. Portland Trailblazers enter Chicago Stadium looking to avenge last year's NBA Finals defeat.
Michael surprises everyone by showing up to practice. But is he ready to play?

People are crazy who say MJ only developed the turn around fade away after his come back in 95-98. This game is a clinic on turn around fade aways.

It's fake media. Just like clowns say he couldn't shoot outside when he 1st entered league - but NCAA game winner he hit was an outside J.

Jordan had some form of the fadeaway even before the Bulls' first championship. But the fadeaway everyone knows was actually used regularly beginning with the Bulls' second championship run.

9:32 to the people who think the competition was weak in the 90's. The mighty Bulls of the 90s won by just 12 points w/out Portland having two of their top three best players in the game (Clyde Drexler & Jerome Kersey).

i love that commentator. he knows every play before its gonna happen. morgan spots up for three. "oh he can do that" swish. mj gets it in the post. "now he'll jump right over you" jumps over him scores. mj posts again "see he'll jump right over you" does it again. "i think michael's getting ready for an explosion" then the rest of the video

I also was a huge Blazer fan at the time. They had too many injuries that year. I recall Drexler missing quite a few games that year. Kersey, Williams, and Duckworth also showed decline.

No goal tend. Seriously, for a moment forget the players, forget the hoop, focus on the physics. The ball is clearly STILL approachin the peak of its arc, it is NOT on its descent. Good call. Was a travel earlier tho ;) And Im a huge Jordan fan. Keepin it basic and nurturing the roots. Respects.

That wasn't goaltending. MJ caught that still going up. That's a bitter Doug Collins at that particular time because the Bulls went to the next level without him.

False, Doug had no ill will against the Bulls even though they screwed him. Bulls go there because of Doug. Phil Jackson is the luckiest assistant in the history of the NBA. Even the year after Doug left the went to the same point in the playoffs. It wasn't until the next season when Scottie elevated and MJ trusted his team more that they progressed and it would have happened with Doug

No. Jordan did come before Kobe but rarely took that type of shot. Not how he plays. Kobe takes shots like that consistently needed or not. Jordan rarely settled for anything the defense gave him.

you are saying the shot at 8:06? I have seen him use it numerous times in different games.. in 1992 here.. 1997 against the lakers i belive it was..i saw him do it against the hawks in 91.. i think.. i think he did it also against the raptors.. but only GOD knows what other games he used it on.. there is another time.. i just can't remember the game.. MJ mastered it with the shot clock pressure... where he is just stepping back and just takes the fade away over the defender..
@chitownmo
@chitownmo 15 жыл бұрын
No. Michael rearely took that type of shot due to his aggressiveness and intelligence. Attacked the basket endlessly which is what you are supposed to do. Puts pressure on the defense and causes rotations and creates for teammates. Shots like the 20 foot fadeaway are bad shots by nature. Should only be done if there is no time on the clock. Kobe does this habitually.

That was a Kobe shot that MJ took from 5:05-5:08. 20+ foot pull up fadeaway under pressure. Rarely ever took that kind of shot due to shot selection and aggressiveness.

@@dazdavis7896 MJ didn't take perimeter shots like that regularly at any point in his career. He was always attacking the basket or pulling up after 2 dribbles off drives or posting up.

Duckworth was probably the best fat player after early Barkley in NBA history. And, no, not Shaq. I'm talking fat as in obese. Shaq had a ton of muscle. Duck had some nice moves.

awesome rare game! great post jordans ultimate dvd ranks that dunk on pips free throw as his #1 dunk of all time. i disagree with that. its a nice dunk but he's had MUCH better dunks in his career than that! the obvious facials over Ewing and the other nba victims, his fast breka against the Heat in 96, his fast break against the lakers in teh Finals game 5, i could go on and on. i just dont think that free throw put back is his best ever.
