Michael Jordan (30 points, 10 assists, 5 steals), Scottie Pippen (32 points, 13 rebs, 7 assists, 5 steals), and John Paxson (20 points, 9-12 shooting) all have superb games to lead the Bulls to their first ever NBA championship defeating the Lakers in the Great Western Forum.

I recorded this game on VHS tape. It was summer of 91 after 6th grade, before 7th grade year for me. I would watch this game many times and would then go out to the backyard and practice MJ's moves and shots for hours on end, every day. Like other kids, I wanted to be like Mike! It was a great time to be a basketball fan and my generation was fortunate to have the GOAT!

notice how many dunks in transition mj and pippen have...imagine wade and lebron in their prime years together...special they would be the best duo ever.......old magic no cooper...no defense no kareem....i wish we saw lebron and wade from 22-28 together..also ski bayless and all mj fanboys would have you believe mj did everything alone and score 100 a night and never missed... well in this game pippen led them and paxon close out the lakers...mj was the 3rd guy....to me lebrons clearly a better shooter than mj and so is wade

mjs amazing catch and shoot wise...right but his mid range is overrated...keep dreaming...mj was the best rim attacker ever i will give him that..but 3 point shooting lebron is better and mj didnt really master the mid range until 1996 but call me an idiot all you want......i think mj was better off ball shooting mid range but ball in hand i go with lebron...his size give him an advantage...hes basically scottie pippen mj and magic combined into 1......mj struggled with smaller defenders who got under him like dumars payton cooper and starks...they wouldnt let him get to the rim...lebron doesnt...he destroys those guys....mj struggled shooting against all those teams for a reason...he had to shoot mid range and he didnt master it until 96...even then mj needed to get to the rim to be effective...i just think mj took more jumpers than lebron does same with kobe so we assume they are better cause they take more...i know for a fact lebrons jumper is better...mj didnt take as many 3's as lebron for a reason...it was out of his consistent range...lebron jacks at least 3-4 a game...minimum....

This is sad to watch as a Lakers fan. Yeah it's disappointing that LA went down in a gentlemen's sweep.... but the real pain comes from the fact that this was the last gasp of the Showtime Lakers. People just didn't realise it at the time. Magic was only 31 and primed to play for another 4-7 years at the very least. No one knew that this was it. One dynasty was born that night, while another slipped quietly into it.

I'm from the Chicago area and still living there during the Bull's Dynasty seeing how both Pippen and Jordan played. I too thought Pippen was very good though not every Chicago fan liked Pippen. There were some who didn't like him at all, said he's overrated and a canny ass. Even if he had 40+ point games or triple doubles, he still didn't get respect from such fans. These idiots who thought that way really weren't true Bulls fans. They had no clue how much of a difference it would have been if Pippen weren't on the team.

@8:37...why there will never be another player better than mj. not to diss lebron or kobe but mj will forever be the goat of m generation. pip will forever be goat at the 3 spot of my generation. pip redefined the small forward position. during and after the bulls run, how many teams tried running their offense thru their small forward? look at the ball handling skills of durant, lebron, and other small forwards in the game today. credit pip!

The two big men MJ and Pippen leading and the support cast were there to help them. Paxson, Grant , Armstrong and Cartwright, all played very well. Best team work and the result was the first title and two more followed. Similarly the 1996, 1997 and 1998 three peat was another team work by another set of support cast for the Bulls to win titles. MJ and Pippen were the leaders but the others players in the team helped to win the titles. Best of the Best!

Everyone's ranting and raving about Scottie Pippen when Michael Jordan put up probably the greatest stat line ever in a finals series... 31.2 PPG, 11.4 APG, 6.6 RPG, 2.8 SPG and 1.4 BPG on 56% shooting! Let's give the finals MVP some recognition for his work.
@kingbee1048

Nate- Dogg Scottie gets plenty of credit but he wasn't a 6 time finals MVP nor did he have the career that MJ did. Let's leave it at that.

With that being said, this was Pippen's game with a huge edge on the 13 rebounds he got, and 2 more points than MJ. But people still talk about Wade carrying Lebron in 2011 finals when they were both averaging nearly 30 points a game, and Wade was just better in game 2. So if MJ needed Pippen and Lebron needs Wade, then its fair enough.

Mike needed Scottie to have a better game then him once in a while. Scottie takes it on the chin a lot playing next to Mike and who wouldn't? Scottie was the reason they won game 5 but Mike was the reason they were there in the first place.

@jking6509 10 жыл бұрын
juju I admit Wade had a much better game/performance in game 2 of the 2011 finals but LBJ and Wade had been averaging nearly 60 points combined in that whole season. But even if Wade played better in the finals, Lebron put up his own numbers as well, it was the team that wasn't putting enough effort as a whole and Bosh couldn't guard Nowitzki which was the biggest problem with that series. They should have put Lebron on Nowitzki.

This was the start of an amazing era for the Chicago Bulls. For almost a decade, the Bulls seemed like they were UNBEATABLE which for the most part was true. They really put Chicago on the map. They had 6 NBA Championship wins in 9 years! Today, the Blackhawks, the team who shares the same building with Bulls are having their era, 3 Stanley Cups in 6 years! The Bulls are still a good team today but now that the Blackhawks are good, the United Center is really raking in the dough! Every game both teams play seems to be a sellout. I hope there comes a year where both the Bulls and the Blackhawks bring home the gold!

Stik Cause Lebron didn't take a team of nobodies to the finals in 2007? How about his current finals run? Quit being so bias, that was no offense to Jordan. His team was great, they had a 55 win season without him. These players played in 2 different eras so no one can say whose achievements are more impressive. There are far too many aspects to account for.

Stik not gonna comment on his 2007 finals though right? And Irving has been extremely banged up throughout these playoffs. He can't be considered a second all star on the team when he isn't at 100%.
