I used a 15/16 socket to get the spark plug tube gaskets out. Just place them over gasket be sure to knock them out the right direction and use hammer to tap socket, gasket came out perfectly. To reinstall new spark plug tube gasket just hand press new one in be sure they’re seated all the way in.

Thanks for the great video! Hopefully my wife's car will hold oil now. 🤞 Just a note - I was able to get the 3 studs out with a 5/32 socket.

I have same wire harness on my cover, The back driver side harness bracket has a 10 mm short bolt at its base that gave more slack , have to take air box out to remove the short 10mm bolt. . Probably help most people . Also stud removal from this bracket is gold for getting out valve cover. Thank u!!!!! I also popped all injector harnesses off

Was gonna change the spark plugs on my 2010 Camry and notice one came out full of oil. Would I have to go through all this just to fix that issue on that one spark plug?

The reason the other mechanics take out the air box and all that other hosing and wires is because when you go to install the seals and gaskets on the valve cover and try to seat it back in place, it's a mofo trying to get that pos back on with all that wiring harness crap in the way.

So sorry. Thought you were talking about a Honda. I don’t. Just reverse the steps from this video and replace all 3 gaskets inside the valve cover. The 4 oil tubes seals pop out pretty easily.

Yes use Toyota Seal Pack between where the block and timing belt cover meet. There is a link to it in the video description. Just a pea size amount is all you need.

They weren't available from Toyota but I found some oem on Ebay.

Kind of late reply. But no, you don't have to take out the plugs as they are attached to the cylinder head.

Some shops are saying they have to put the car on a lift and drop the engine down. Now they can remove the valve cover while the engine is out of the car. Seems to make sense. Looks like you are doing it the hard way with the engine still in the car.

On what kind of car? Any 4 cylinder from Honda and Toyota you don’t need to drop the engine to change out a valve cover gasket.

That seems like a lot of work just to remove a valve cover. Are most valve cover removals easier than this one?

Yes mos valve covers are a lot easier than this. This one was hard because the wiring harness didn't have enough "slack" in it to give me room to sneak the VC out. Toyota if your listening, please make a plug for the wiring harness that goes over the valve covers on all your Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Then the car will be perfect!
