it is about a detective agency with many secrets and the mafia that is connected to the agency in more ways than one.

it’s about rivaling organizations (pretty much just very powerful gangs with a lot of money) who have complicated and intertwined histories with each other. characters have abilities and fight due to their pasts and the pain the rival organizations cause for them.

The story is basically a detective agency and a mafia both with powers. The characters have the name of real life authors and their abilities have the name of their most popular book

I love when they speculate Dazai in the 1st opening when he is falling has some kind of meaning/ metaphor XD That dude just want to kill himself 😂

@@TGLReacts well technically the scene is symbolism; the building dazai is falling from is the port mafia headquarters. by falling off of it, it symbolizes him distancing himself from the port mafia

Lots of ppl have already explained most of the plot, but I think it's worth mentioning that it's near impossible to dislike any of the characters. Even the "bad guys" aren't that bad, and each person has interesting morals and philosophies. One of the main themes is finding a reason to live, which pertains to multiple characters in different ways. Even the 2nd OP is called "Raison Detre" or "Reason Living." And the 2nd season is where most ppl get completely hooked, especially the flashback arc at the start. The first season is undoubtly good, but slow compared to the rest of the series. It's worth a watch and may get addictive.

Bungou is a really underrated anime 😭 Yes, it's a shounen and it have a great and complex story line. Curiosity: the characters are based in real authors and the name of their abilities are the name of the most famous work of the author it represents.

a correction. bsd is a seinen manga, bcs it was first released in seinen magazine.

It's actually a seinen but people often label it as shonen

The characters refer to themselves as stray dogs because most of them have nowhere to go for one reason or another and have to search for a purpose or something. The two main organizations we follow are the Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency that both do their part in keeping the problem of criminals with abilities at bay and usually end up working together one way or another but not really. The characters are all based on real world authors and their abilities are based on the books the mangaka considers their best and there are a lot of real world references hidden throughout for literary buffs. I don't think there are any dog related abilities in the show.

funnily enough there are 2 cats but no dogs also all 3 ops are sang by voice actors of the show (the first and third being the same person) also i deffiinetly reccomend watching the endings, theyre really good

It is a metaphor. Watching the show and reading the Manga its not that Dazai just wants to kill himself its the reasons why and the complexities behind why he doesn't as it relates to others in his life

@@SpectreBagels i mean, yeah, i guess. but we can still throw off the newbies by saying that its not a metaphor. plus the actual falling itself isnt the metaphor. its the character himself, and the building he is falling off, not the action. and most newbies think the action of falling itself must be the metaphor. (and honestly, for the metaphor they think it is, i think having him rise out of some murky depths would be more fitting)

Opening one and three were sung by one of the voice actors! BSD is one of those shows that get better and better as the time goes on and are extremly sad when you analyse them more and more

@@TGLReacts oh yes, BSD isn’t exclusively sad but once you think about characters’ backstories, and analyze authors and books that they were based of, it can get extremly dark. But it does have extremly well done fight scenes and humor is on point!

Love your reaction as always. the endings i prefer tbh but they are all good. the endings are difficult to find on youtube unedited so i recommend just going on 1 episode of each season and watch the endings on them.

Easily one of the best anime Ive watched. BSD gives me goosebumps almost every episode because of the storyline and all the characters!!! I can’t even count the number of times I’ve rewatched this series. I just wish there was more reaction to BSD out there.

Kinda late to comment but The show doesn't have anything to do with dogs. Since almost all of the characters are named after famous authors (mostly japanese but there are also american, russian etc) and bungou stray dogs means literary stray dogs in the anime, the meaning behind the title is the stray dogs of literature.

The To Aru franchise has great openings whether it's a certain magical index or Accelerator or Railgun any one of these would make for a great reaction! Or maybe something different there are videos of evolution of how studios make openings they are interesting and would expose you to a lot of older shows

Hello, I know it has been a while but it is possible to react to the endings of Bungou Stray Dogs? There are many animes worth watching and I believe this to be one of them. However don't rush. Take your time through your watch list. I just hope that one day you will be able to react to this amazing anime. Just a heads up about this series. As someone who is still going through the series myself, I find this show, especially in its first season, to be episodic and more character based than anything else. While there is some overarching plot in the background, this shows seems to be more character driven than plot. So if you enjoy that sort of thing, you will have a great time. Have a good day!

I have no idea why it's called bungou stray dogs. Bungou means literature I think. But the main character is a tiger and there's no dogs in this anime😂

I once read a theory, that the reason of why it is called Start Dogs because all the characters have bad past and always struggling just to stay alive. They all once lost just like stray dogs, even now they are still fighting to justify their reason to be alive.
