Bunk Bed Rat Hammock: TUTORIAL

A tutorial video showing how to sew your own DIY bunk bed rat hammock, otherwise known as a double hammock, two tier hammock, etc.
This is a simpler and smaller version of the honeycomb hammock.
I show how to sew the hammock as well as put the grommets in.
This hammock is good for 2-4 pet rats.

I've also gotten a new phone and the video quality is much better now! As well as I'm trying out different editing apps to see which suits me best. Let me know what you think down below!

It is very simple and can easily be turned into your honeycomb design if wanted! I’m convincing my mom to get me a few rats, I have lots of fabric so if I manage to convince her then I will be marketing a few of your hammock designs.

Another cool thing you can do : Do the bigger part twice (instead of a big and a small, but I think it could also work with a big and a small one...? 🤔), then grommet both (so you end up with two single hammock). The top one will connect to the top of the cage and the bottom half will connect to the grommet of the top one, corner to corner. Accidentally did this with two store bought hammock and my rats went bonkers. It could be sturdier if you are not that confident in your sewing skill (me, total sewing noob here)

I never sew but I have 9beautiful baby girls who need one bad.and there cage can hold this .will watch for other ideas for a kaytee cage for my 8girls. Love this so much

Bregjes Bende it is specifically for fabric, can get one at a crafts store like Joan fabrics or micheals :)

Thank you for this tutorial. I wonder why all hammocks are made from fleece. Even if just partially. My rats don’t like fleece hammocks during summer - is there a problem with fully cotton hammocks, as I never see anyone making them? Is that due to durability? Thank you in advance

Hay having big problems with sewing machine and fleece fabric....will not stitch properly......all correctly threaded and needle ok and bobbin threaded ok although does it have to be a loose tension on bobbin or not....??.....so what number tension is best for sewing fleece from 0-9.....which number.....??......and what stitch length......long or short??.....let me know.....Thanx.

Idk if I'll get an answer but WHERE DID YOU FIND THE ROTARY RULER THING. I cannot find them ANYWHERE. I live in Canada and the only one available on Amazon has awful reviews 😭

Do you ever have a problem with grommets getting rusty after washing them? I have been scared to use them for this reason.

Amber Douglas so far no I haven’t! Just as long as you throw them in the dryer right after washing them I’m sure they’ll be fine.

This is like ur missing a section of video.. Like the MAIN section. Of video.. Ur showing how to make a thing, you explain in detail how to make the two squares which is the easy bit and then the bit how u saw the bottom to the top THE VERY THING THAT DEFINES THIS ENTIRE VIDEO, you just skip to.... 'once that's done~' I get the concept but I'm new to this (obviously u know that or u wouldn't of explained in detail how to make the two squares).. So can u elaborate on how I get the material onto my machine so I can saw the top and bottom together.
