Thank you for this tutorial. I wonder why all hammocks are made from fleece. Even if just partially. My rats don’t like fleece hammocks during summer - is there a problem with fully cotton hammocks, as I never see anyone making them? Is that due to durability? Thank you in advance

Another cool thing you can do : Do the bigger part twice (instead of a big and a small, but I think it could also work with a big and a small one...? 🤔), then grommet both (so you end up with two single hammock). The top one will connect to the top of the cage and the bottom half will connect to the grommet of the top one, corner to corner. Accidentally did this with two store bought hammock and my rats went bonkers. It could be sturdier if you are not that confident in your sewing skill (me, total sewing noob here)

It is very simple and can easily be turned into your honeycomb design if wanted! I’m convincing my mom to get me a few rats, I have lots of fabric so if I manage to convince her then I will be marketing a few of your hammock designs.

Would it be possible to get permission to use this video for a documentary about rats that I'm working on in Canada. There is a liitle section where they talk about rats chewing constantly and this video would be great for that section.

Rats should not have spinach bc of the oxalates. Anything a person with kidney stones has to avoid, so should a rat. Spinach can cause detrimental affects on rats kidneys.

You don’t need boning. If you put a layer of wadding in the material it will hold its shape if you just turn the corners of your tunnel over.

Cruel and unsafe. A rat should never be kept alone, and it is extremely dangerous to let your rat free roam especially around a predator species like a dog!
@allywalsh9050

I do agree with not wanting your day to be left alone... but if you do it safely... you could most-definitely have a free roam rat. This may not be the best depiction of it... but they were clearly supervised and the owner was doing its best

How many rats do you have? You only showed the one in the video and even if you are with it for most of the day they will grow extremely depressed without other rats around. If you do only have the one then you should go out and find another as quickly as possible.

Dirty rats, they're vermin. Spreading disease, pooping and urinating everywhere. All rats and mice should be exterminated. Seems nice to have a tame rat, but what if they are in your house unwanted?? Chewing through your house, clothes and personal belongings? Pffff.
