The best thing about Bunnahabhian is saying the name, especially to people who've never heard of it before. They always think you're making it up like it's some make-believe company from a Dr. Seuss novel.

Bunna 12 is probably the best integrity malt still with a decent price. Age statement, proper abv of 46,3%, natural color and non-chill filtered. Already stashed up few bottles if they somehow ruin it in the future as we have unfortunately witnessed happening with some other malts.

Bruichladdich the classic laddie is like 1 euro more expensive. Bunnahabhain 12 is 49eu and the laddie around 50. I say they're both great in there own way.

I enjoy Bunna 12 and many of the distillery’s expressions. The Bunna 12 is such a great dram!

Great review, I love the Bunna 12, so fresh and full of flavour. I know some are put off by the woodyness, but I think it gives it an extra dimension. Best regards from Denmark

Bunnahabhain 12-year-old Islay single malt whisky. Nose - sweet and spicey. Taste - vanilla, warming, Christmas pudding, mulled wine, spirit. I liked it before but now I am spoiled. I need to try an older one. 12 years is not enough. 5/10.

It was that wood note you were surprised by that ruined the 12 for me (I'm super sensitive to it) so I blended mine with an IB of Staoisha and the peat hid the note well, now it's wonderful

That's interesting! It had more of a wood note than we had remembered for sure! Great idea to mix your own dram to suit your taste!

@@TheGrailTastings Unfortunately there are zero bottles of the 18yr in B.C and there is only one bottle of the 35yr in my province because... Canada. Nice to hear from you! Big fan of your show :)

Margadale...ha!! I saw an Ma bottling by Elements of Islay and they said it was a Bunna which made no sense but now it shall. Great review. I would buy a case at a time if I could store it without my wife finding it. Slàinte friends.

This is the next scotch I'm gonna try, based on this review and Ralfy's review). I am picky about artificial or caramel color, so I only buy scotch or rum that's natural colored (which unfortunately excludes the majority of Scotches, and almost all Irish whisky). I'm also not a fan of peated Scotches, so this one fits all my criteria. My one exception is the Nick Offerman Lagavulin editions - because I'm a sucker for that particular celebrity marketing gimmick.

😂 At least you admit it! Where abouts are you in the world? We are finding that more and more Scotches don't use colour and certainly the vast majority we stock in our shop are natural colour.

@@TheGrailTastings I'm in Colorado, which isn't a popular state for Scotch drinkers I guess, because even in the large wine/liquor stores, the Scotch selections mostly contain the big, well-known brand names (as opposed to the highest quality ones). But even so, I agree there has been a noticeable trend toward natural color and even more non-chill filtered options. By the way, I picked up a bottle of this Bunnahabbain 12 year (last one n the shelf), and I like it a lot - especially the peppery finish.
