As a bourbon fan, I was blown away by this scotch. Had a sample bottle and I was instanly on the hunt. It is quite hard to find around my state and I fortunately found a few bottles while on vacation in Florida.

I just purchased this bottle and had a dram last night. It's my first Scotch I think it's a really good with a great finish. Thanks for the review

Finally got one. This is so delicious. I think I found a new scotch favorite. I'm kinda missing the smoke but love the flavors and viscosity. Definitely a scotch for bourbon lovers.

Love my Bunna 12. Great quality whisky and the Nautical Theme makes it an "11" hehehe BTW the 18 is amazing! I liked the old packaging better, but the red label does make it easier to see on the shelves.

I would have never guessed they were all Islay whisky's. Bunnahabhain was the first of those 3 you mentioned I tried and it's not even close to the same. So smooth, such a great flavor and easy to drink. It reminded myself and a friend of mine more of a bourbon then a scotch, let alone a peety scotch.

I agree with you! Adding ex-bourbon cask to sherry cask aged whisky is actually making the whisky more rounded and more interesting. That's why I enjoy the Bunnahabhain 12 much more than the Macallan 12 sherry cask.

The Bunnahabhain 12 was the first Islay whisky I really liked and it was my final distillery during my 3 day visit to the island so it holds a special place in my heart (or is it my liver?).

Hi Jason, good to see you expanding in the malt world. Bunnahabhain 12 is a great bang for buck whisky and probably a base model of Bunnahabhain without peat. They do peated stuff too and that's a different story. Good review. WT

Jason, this was a nice review of the Bunnahabhain 12. I am an admitted Peathead with Ardbeg and Laphroaig being my 2 favorite Single Malt brands. But the very lightly peated Bunna 12 has become one of my top 3 go to Islay daily drams along with the Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig 10. I like balanced flavor of the Bunna 12 and the 46.3% ABV. Burn Stewart/The Distell Group is really cranking out some good Scotch at this time with Bunnahabhain, Deanston, Tobermory and Ledaig. The Tobermory 10 and Ledaig 10 are also now at 46.3% ABV like the Bunna 12 and Deanston 12. I was at the Bunnahabhain Distillery last month while on Islay and tasted several of their different expressions. Thanks and Cheers ! 🥃👍😋

Nice review. Seeing as you like this whisky, keep an eye out for Kilchoman (especially the Loch Gorm expression) which also offers a lower peat taste profile from Islay.

One of my favorite whiskys of the year so rich and balanced. I have the older style bottle and I think I like that one more than the current one. Lets hope the juice inside remains the same quality.

Casks and NCF are absolutely important but so are the stills. You had a great picture of how fat their stills are. Compare them to the tall skinny Glenmorangie stills. That also contributes to how syrupy and heavy the spirit is. I love looking up pictures of stills (in lieu of distillery visits).
