about Angolan being a language or not, let's not forget that this song in particular (amongst other Buraka songs) has a lot of Kimbundo in the lyrics. Now Kimbundo is an Angolan dialect, therefore one cannot say the song is entirely Portuguese. Anyway who cares, music is worldwide and has no boundaries so just listen and dance!

Olá Peeps. É assim... I was living in Lisboa when Buraka hit. It was an explosion of sound, rhythm and dance. Unique and unstoppable. Today, I live in Toronto and because of Drake and the Weeknd, people seem to think that Toronto has a hip and happening rap scene. Rubbish. The music coming out of the 6ix is cheap copy paste beats and recycled mumble. When the kuduro thing hit Lisboa, via Angola and back, it was like Seattle in the 90s, Manchester in the late 80s, or London in the 60s. Pure creative energy. And Buraka Som Sistema were the vanguard. Miss you guys. Cheers from Toronto. We need Buraka aqui. Venha vinho!

I am Portuguese and I am really proud of my country and the mixture you find in it, specially with Africans. The PT landscape, specially the one you find in Lisbon, is unique in Europe, I'm proud of that. Colonialism is always bad, but it gave origin to something positive: the contact between people, difficult in the past, but the mixture of nowadays is just woderfull. I love my country.

No. Your colonialism was largely driven by Merchant J*ws. The destruction of OUR people and roots homelands while Africa remains protected is NOT OK.The peoples of Portugal have nothing to do with historical colonialism. Want to go after the slaver families? Do it. Want to get repairments? Do it. Portuguese nor any other European peoples collectively owe Africans or any other peoples anything. And the migration, replacement into our homelands is a crime. The "interaction" is almost always extremely destructive and negative, degenerate unlike what you claim here. If you want to learn from past mistakes respect that peoples have cultures, peoples and homelands and learn to respect them instead of dividing, mixing them. You are only breeding horrible conflict.

"colonialism is always bad but..." you're undervaluing the effect colonialism has on the world today. either with colonialism or not, afrikans would always produce something pure of rhythm, its the nature of Afrika, their rhythm wasn't brought/augmented by colonialism. In fact post-colonialism fucks up Afrika and anyone who isn't white, and if you rlly wanna look back at who were the first to start slavery... I wouldn't be so proud

And yes she mentions angola but she grew up in Portugal, in a hood called Amadora with the rest of the crew members(at least 2 of them are white and portuguese) So those 500 years old stories arent important in this century, its all about this music, friendship and no bullshit genocide stories

É pena que a versão no cd deles não soa tão bem como esta... A do clip esta tá mesmo mesmo brutal! Não sou apreciador de kuduro nem de buraka, mas não haja duvida que esta música dá um arrepio na espinha!

I remember this song pretty well. Had some airplay on the radio in Australia in around 2008-09. Haven't heard it since now & forgot about this song till the tune came back to me recently

Well, Portugal won didn't they? Also, she is singing right now as "break" song in between the final. But if you want to participate, most countries ask around 500.000EUR of the participant if they want to represent the country, so it's not about talent anymore, but about who has the most money. One of the big reasons why many countries don't do Pre-Selection Voting TV-Shows on the television anymore.

The vocalist "Pongo" is in Festival da Canção this year with the song "DÉGRÁ.DÊ". If they win the festival in Portugal it will bring something new to the Eurovision.
