Hello! I’m Ellie, English female detectorist, beachcomber, mudlark and artist. 🇬🇧 Follow my searching journey metal detecting the UK countryside and shoreline, as I learn about British history through objects.
Have I found any treasure? Well - I’ve really been putting in the time, and in my first year of detecting I have collected Roman artefacts, old gold, hammered coins and medieval finds. But the REAL treasure is in the stories each object tells about people and places. Sometimes it’s the mystery objects that I love best - cracking the code of time with plenty of help from my team of trusty subscribers!

When you spotted the hare and deer it reminded me of the scene in the detectorists when they spotted the magpies and the wonderful Unthanks sang the magpie song.

Ellie, even before you announced the likely identity of the decorative bronze item, I was saying to myself, "Wow, she has a Roman bracelet!" The repetitive geometric design and the rounded finished ends immediately caught my attention as Roman jewelry. I like that you stated that this artifact is already one of your favorite finds based on the fact it was an ancient person's very personal item, potentially placed on a sacrificial altar. Either way, it's an amazing keepsake which undoubtedly held a very meaningful place in someone's personal history. Yes, I believe in miracles, wherein the seemingly impossible and/or the highly improbable turn of events result in benefits, blessings, and answers to our concerns being unexpectedly realized in spite of negative and discouraging circumstances. The fact that you found your lost microphone in spite of the thick ground cover is more than "good luck" because it was an unexpected and unearned blessing that removed the heaviness of your heart. You were despairing to the point of thinking you should give up on KZfaq content production. That would have been awful for you and for us, your subscribers, who get so much joy from our virtual experience of exploring and learning with you. Keep the faith, Ellie, because there are good finds and miracles ahead for you as you pour yourself into the dreams that you chase and for which you are so diligently working.

Hi Ellie....late autumn and december, january, feb, are the best times to get into the woods to detect (the ground cover is on its way out or dying ! ) also you shouldn't go in there when there are strong gusty winds forecast, branches tend to fall and trees too, ok safety briefing over lol...what a great find you had there a fantastic bracelet and a nice Roman coin after, there's a slight chance the bracelet may be iron/bronze age,...well done you take care..ps i liked your comment with the lady birds...made me chuckle GL&HH Gordon x

I lived in those woods for 20 years I just didn’t think it would have erupted QUITE as much in a couple of weeks 😂😂 I’ll be back in autumn for sure - might get the bracelet checked over I think 🤔

Cracking find .It's full not part , has its terminals each end with ring and dot stamp.. You can find similar in Nina Crummy's CAR report... I would persevere with the woods ..

Ellie, wonderful bracelet you found. You should be able to reform it again with some heat. Perhaps you have someone that could help you with it. Then you could wear it. I’m happy that you found your microphone. I lost one on a television shoot once thanks to a careless talent who couldn’t care less. The station finally paid me for it because I used my equipment because it was better. I refused to work with that person again. Thank you for the video. I wasn’t aware that particular weed was edible. I get that stuff stuck to me when I mow the pasture… John

It’s so tiny I don’t think it would fit. I daren’t touch it I think I’ll leave it squashed!

@@miss_detectorist I thought it looked larger you’re probably right. It can be easily annealed and reshaped without squashing or bending. Cut a piece of twine as long as the bracelet and wrap it around your wrist to check the fit. You can have a fairly large gap and it will fit nicely… John

Ellie, leave it the way you found it, please. It's value is as an authentic archeological artifact, not as a wearable bracelet.

Personally, I will leave it as I found it. I think it may have been manipulated into that shape .. but even if not, I wouldn’t want to damage it.

Beautiful bracelet! I wonder if it was plated when new or had some enamel? I found a small Roman ring recently that had two indented cells on the bezel, one of which still contained red enamel. That field will have more to give up yet :)

Possibly although there’s no sign of it and it’s in such perfect condition! The decoration is the intricate prick marks not sure there’s any recess for enamel work but will look again in the light!
