A sermon I've returned to over the years. Thankful for Burk Parsons. This sermon was what led me to embrace the Biblical doctrine of unconditional election, which is otherwise, in part, known as Calvinism. May we all learn to glory in our Sovereign God!

We were saved not because we wanted to be saved, but because God wanted! - Watchman Nee. What a wonderful sermon Pastor Burk.

Who can resist the will of God??? We do everyday when we sin and go against His word! Unless you say that God wills us to sin? That would mean God wills us to do that what He hates! Something wrong with your theology, God is good and in Him is no darkness at all - He would no make us do evil since He hates evil. You are right my God is not the God of Calvinism. That is a different God, one who makes people with no will of their own to do that which He hates and then punishes them eternally for doing what He wills! Utter madness!

Hello brother! If you have the time, I would highly recommend you watch "John Macarthur : The problem of evil" here on youtube. God does not distance himself in anyway from the evil that exist in our world. The scripture is crystal clear on that. I hope you have time to watch that message, as I think it will explain your question very well. God bless you

@@kontainedkhaos7293 Greetings, thank you for your reply, I agree with you the God does not shy away from evil,I do however take issue with the manner in which the preacher articulated it, it was if he was saying God desired the fall of man and ordained that we should sin against Him, to me that is simply unthinkable! But according to His theology man is not free therefore God ordained evil to exist in the world. Calvinistic theology has many flaws at it's fundamentals, their doctrines are contradictory and contrary to the God revealed in Scripture. Gods relationship to evil is one of hate, He hates evil and all wickedness and clearly His desire is to systematically eradicate it from His creation and restore perfection and righteousness in entirety

@@markwhite5926 Some day, Calvinism will fizz. Then more people will become interested in Christianity again.

You realize that this question is in the text, right? Rom 9:19, "For who has resisted His will." And the line of questioning in the context of the passage implies a negative, that is, no one! So, when the speaker asked that question, I took that as, "ultimately, who can resist the will of God." Which if you can find someone who can, that person is all-powerful, and not the God of this passage of Romans. I hope I made sense!

@The Pilgrim Calvinism has fizzed before. When I was young, very few people believed in Calvinism. It was considered an outdated theology. But a couple of decades ago, it started making a comeback. As it spread, it appeared to me that more and more people were losing interest in Christianity.
