Exactly 15 days before I was born. This music is just too good! The insane groove, the solos, the energy.. magnificent. I wish we had this in HD or Blu-ray or whatever. The music-world deserves it!

Ya, got to hand it Robben for being a real gentlemen, and encouraging Santana to get in there and play. Playing with a stage full of monsters of this caliber is enough to make any mortal turn his instrument volume off and just feign playing in the background.

Wow Bob Berg !! magical !! With Michael Brecker, we've lost 2 incredible sax players :( RIP

And let's not forget that this was the period in CS' career that gave us such great songs as 'I'm Winning'. Used to be a big fan of him, but the last 20 years has not given me a lot to cheer about.

And yes, you are a lucky guy to see all those musicians live.

Carlos is so complementary to whomever he plays with. that is his true gift. Thanks for sharing!

I was in jazz college when this came out. I recorded it off the radio onto an old thing called a "tape deck". Most of us were totally blown away when we heard this. Hardcore. There were a lot of great acts on that day.

No one played with MILES by accident. He was intentional. He got off on everybodies energy. It kept him young and forward thinking. Miss that MILES....see you in heaven too. RIP

Miles is the man - no doubt - A true genius. Robben Ford is a seriously sophisticated and smooth player. He plays straight up Jazz and excels at the Blues and fusion stuff as well. Carlos is Carlos, an icon, but hasnt really done anything exciting or new in 25 years. (and he does play over Ford a couple of times) Great clip

It's nice to see this vid. I remember seeing it on tv live, and was blown away by the whole set. It sent me on a mission to hear Bob Berg, born same year, who certainly is one of the best I've heard. I regret his passing. Too bad there's many glitches in the sound. A lot of it is on my old cassette of the show. Miles looked cooked and repeatedly bumped the mike with his horn. One of my all time favorite tapes and one that I'm looking to update digitally.

Music is not a sport competition. You can not measure the amount of soul so the best thing to do is to take your instrument and tell da "story of your own"

Being a late comer to youtube, I just found this vid. It brings back that weekend when I recorded this live off of KFOG in S. F., onto cassette. Miles looked toasted to me, but what really launched me was the rest of the band. I needed a year or more to find out who they were. Bob Berg and Robben Ford. I've since collected a lot of their music and I hold them both on the highest shelf. Man, do I miss Bob. I'm gonna have to transfer that cassette.

Gave this another try. Opened my mind as wide as I could out of consideration to the many people who have argued with me about this piece. Even got stoned before I listened to it. The solos are all really well-played. Very professional. But that ain't the same as heart. I stand by my original verdict: soulless.
