When we were kids, you could buy Davis Wearwell house brand tires at Western Auto for $8 each. Considering monetary inflation, your Walmart Douglas burnout specials are actually probably cheaper, and better tires. lol. The Wearwells were 2-ply Rayon bias-ply tires.

Something to consider for when trailering Burnie on a open trailer or any vehicle with a air cleaner sticking out of the hood and can be done on vehicle without a hood with a bit more effort is to find the appropriate size plastic bucket that will fit over the air cleaner assembly and if necessary cut it down to the correct height so that if drill a hole in the middle and glue a "fender washer" to the inside of the bottom (now top" of the bucket and iplace a piece of foam high density foam about 1/2 to 1 inch thick on the inside of the bucket. Additionally you will want to glue a piece of split a piece of rubber hose or use whatever form of window strip gasket etc you choose to the edge of bucket that will come in contact with your hood to prevent it from scratching the finish and then before trailering your vehicle remove the wing nut or hold down bolt from your air cleaner and place the bucket over your air cleaner assembly and place a washer and a gasket (i cut mine out of inner tube a used an awl to poke a hole just big enough to stretch over my air cleaner hold down stud and instead of using my normal wing nut i would use two nuts and lock them together so they would not come loose. When cutting your bucket and tightening it down make sure not leave the bucket to long or tighten it down to much to avoid damaging the hood or carburetor of your vehicle. Just because I was super anal about dust, water, etc getting into my engine while trailering it I also covered the air cleaner over with a drawstring plastic bag under the bucket as another layer of protection and had a nerf basketball inside my air cleaner.
