Muddy roads that left tens of thousands of partygoers stranded for days at a counterculture festival had dried up enough by Monday afternoon to allow them to begin their exodus from the northern Nevada desert.
Burning Man organizers said they began to let traffic flow out of the main road around 2 p.m. local time - even as they continued to ask revelers to delay their exit to Tuesday to ease traffic. As of Monday afternoon, they said about 64,000 people remained at the festival site.

Not good. The O'Biden administration is only giving each household $700. The land grab victims are furious! They are also wondering where 2025 children went? That's how many are still unaccountable.

This was the perfect opportunity to replicate the "highway of death" that we put on Iraq. So many targets packed together. It's impossible to feel sorry for these people.

OK. I had the same thought of my time in 90 & 91. I'm going to be harsh but it's the highway of morans. Be prepared you can smoke your Dope, but have the proper vehicle, water, food and know the Seven P's ( prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance )...

Idiots indeed. I had my fair share of flipping everyone who left in this condition just to make it worse for themselves and everyone else cause the default world was that more important. We have everything we need at the event. People were making hot food n having a good time staying

I don't and I was there. I work in the Traffic Operations for Gate and Exodus and most people were their own worst enemy. We were strongly urging and asking people to please don't try to leave until the playa dried out sufficiently to do so safely but these folks willfully disregarded that advice and chose to get themselves stuck. The Bureau of Land Management has signs posted at EVERY lake access point (the playa is a dry lake bed during summers but an actual lake in the winters) that the playa is impassable when wet. It's not like attendees didn't know. If you got yourself stuck in the mud, you have no one to blame. The word among staff as I left was that the usual tow companies weren't keen to come out this year because they don't want to get stuck IN the playa themselves trying to extract others. I left yesterday evening after things had dried enough to safely drive on.

You know, it wasn't as bad as the media is making it out to be. Most of the people who got stuck did so after being asked to remain in camp and to not drive until the playa, what we call the dry lake bed on which the event is held, dries back out, which it does fairly rapidly after rain like this. I was there and work in Traffic Ops so I do kind of have the inside story here. The media found the worst of the worst and has portrayed it as true for the entire event site-wide. I drove off playa yesterday, having finally been able to go off shift, and only passed one stuck vehicle, a truck and trailer. The driver clearly drove outside the marked lanes provided and paid the price. Do stupid things, win stupid prizes. If only they had followed instructions, you know? Also, there was no Ebola, no cannibalism, no dysentery, and FEMA never showed up so don't believe the rumors and hype the media have promoted. LOL Most of the people who got stuck during Exodus did so because they willfully disregarded strong urging to stay in place in camp and NOT drive on the playa until it had dried sufficiently to do so safely. They panicked and, well, people are dumb panicky animals. When we see one person flipping out, we tend to do the same thing. If you read the Survival Guide and paid heed to what it said prior to making your preparations, you would know to not drive on wet playa. Heck, don't walk on it unless you absolutely have to. It sticks to everything very thickly and dries like concrete. Those who got stuck will likely have to pay to be dug out of the playa. Last I heard before I left yesterday is that the usual tow companies that service Burning Man weren't going to do that until things dry out well because they don't want to get stuck themselves.

I was there. I do remember seeing an RV driving on one of the roads, around 7:30 and F, and getting stuck at night. Other burners who toughed it out were laughing.
@LauraS1
@LauraS1 10 ай бұрын
@@paulgermano7837 Pretty much and we staff were laughing at them, too, once we stopped cursing at them for being stupid enough to try to drive out on a sopping wet playa. We aren't technically required to help burners who get stuck but we do so to keep the peace and to help facilitate Exodus later. I wasn't far from there. 5:45 and E in the Black Hole. We were in a low spot so it was unusually muddy and wet there and very churned-up because of the foot traffic from staff heading to and from the commissary for meals. I opted for the sock method of getting around (just socks...they give great traction and mud doesn't build up on them). What did you opt for?
@paulgermano7837
@paulgermano7837 10 ай бұрын
@@LauraS1 I toughed it out by going barefoot most of the time! It felt so good walking where it was very soft, and other times it was rough walking on the hardened clumps. Next time I'll bring some extra bags to wrap around my feet for better traction.
@LauraS1
@LauraS1 10 ай бұрын
@@paulgermano7837 Nooooo, no bags. They're slick as snot in the mud and they build up mud more than socks do. Been there, done that, slid all over the place, ended up with two inch thick playa platforms. 😁 Bring extra athletic socks and put those over your bags or over your hopefully waterproof boots and you'll have traction. I hope you washed your feet well after going barefoot. I can't go totally barefoot due to diabetes. I'm trying to keep my feet good for as long as I can.

For people who hate capitalism and corporatism they sure do love paying a large fee just to get stuck in the desert. I looked up the reason why they pay large fees is because the organizers want to "expand" their reach... Sounds like capitalism with extra steps.
